LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police on Monday identified the three officers who shot and killed an armed man outside a Costco store in Summerlin.

They are Officer William Mosher, 38, a five-year veteran of the department, Officer Joshua Stark, 28, who has been with the department since September 2008, and Officer Thomas Mendiola, 23, who joined the department in March 2009.

“This is tragic, prayers for Scott’s family.”

Look at posts #27 and #94 to see who is father is.

Oh, he was going to kill you now? What you said was this:

"Had he exited that vehicle with anything in his hands or made any quick movements, I would not have hesitated to shoot him."

When seconds count, the cops are minutes away.

You are so right, this society would be so much more peaceful and loving and respectful if there were just NO cops around.

I can’t imagine where my head was at.

-- I personally know a few of my local LEO's and I've never heard them refer to normal, law-abiding civilians in that way. --

But of course they refer to morons, idiots and criminals as morons, idiots and criminals.

Anyway, I don't have an issue with the label, "civilian." There has to be some shorthand to distinguish the enforced from the enforcer.

“Not according to their training, their uniform, their badge or the rules that they are SUPPOSED to operate under.”

And thats the problem I have with them, the militarization of the police force.

What was the race of the Costco clerk? Age? Likely brainwashed, in her youth, into thinking anyone with a gun is evil.>>>>>>>>

Details on her on not known. But from the comments section I linked to.... that I read it was a female Costco employee who told Scott he had to leave because he had a concealed carry gun. Scott explained how CC was legal. She felt dissed and and in a snit called the police and gave them an exaggerated and false version of what Scott was doing

What’s your point?

That your stated attitude while on the job (I'm going home safe, no matter what) leaves a lot of room for errors. For instacne, what if the guy in your situation came out of the car with a cell phone in his hand? What if he had a dark colored wrist brace or a cast?

Andy Griffith wouldn’t last two seconds in todays society. I don’t like it but it is a sad fact of life.

Or maybe you’re just wishing for them to have a conscience - which may be too much to wish for too.

It was dark. I ordered him out of the car with empty hands. I am supposed to risk that he (a murder suspect) disobeyed my order on accident?

“Andy Griffith wouldn’t last two seconds in todays society. “

Perhaps, perhaps not - militarization of the police force is unconstitutional and only making the problem worse.

There’s not a single situation that cannot be made worse by adding a cop.

That is a ridiculous statement.

You're right, it would be much safer for you if you just killed all suspects. Why should you accept any risk at all? I stand corrected.

>Anyway, I don’t have an issue with the label, “civilian.” There has to be some shorthand to distinguish the enforced from the enforcer.

Not if that very enforcer is supposed to follow the same laws he is supposed to be enforcing.
It is the “two standards” for justice/law that is tearing this country apart.

There’s the “congressional overlords” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Law Enforcement Officers” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Undocumented Guests” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Protected [minority] class” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Protected [political] class” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Protected [religious] class” and “Civilians.”
There’s the “Protected [celebrity] class” and “Civilians.”

Bleh! and a pox on those who call it ‘Justice!’

We need cops to act like what they are, public servants, not self appointed zoo keepers and overlords.
