A lawyer representing the family of a man fatally shot by police at the Costco in Summerlin denied police reports Monday that the man had pulled out a handgun and pointed it at police.
Erik Scott, 39, had at least one handgun with him at the time of the shooting Saturday, but also had a concealed weapon permit, attorney Ross Goodman said.

OOOPS!
There is some serious coverup going on here. Guy seems to have a nobel background, like so many of us with carry permits.
So, this happened on Saturday.
And still no videos?
Does sound like the cops got this one wrong.
And the Costco employee was a drama queen.
Sad, very very sad.
Now the story is gone and the ID of the policeman article has taken its place.
I don’t know the whole story on this but I do know better than simply take the word of the victim’s attorney.
Costco should be held fully responsible as having employed the officers to gun down a lawful citizen; if it had been a Gangsta it would have been profiling and no one would have done anything, cause its okay to kill cracka`s.
Although the Officers and Department should bear some responsibility; I would want to see Costcos and Police videos, hear both the 911 recording and the dispatch audio, and see the individual self-written citizen reports plus Officer Reports then decide.
In before the usual suspects can tell us how he would have, and it's a darn good thing those keystone Rambo's were fast enough to keep that Military officer from initiating a bloodbath
Isn’t this what the Reid/Obama/Pelosi cabal really want?
I’m sure you meant “noble.”
Maybe to educate yourself you should read the original story with the statements of a half dozen or so witnesses, one of whom was 7 ft. from the victim.
The first story I read said he was attempting to surrender his gun and now an attorney says he never attempted to pull it.
I don't believe they were CostCo policemen (I'm pretty sure CostCo doesn't have a private army). They were Las Vegas Police. Lawsuits (probably warranted, based on what I've read so far) will be paid by the taxpayers. If this homicide was due to negligence and incompetence, the police in question need to be fired. The CostCo clerk who caused this event also needs to be fired.
But other than that, I can't see CostCo's financial liability. Yes the clerk was an overreacting idiot, but at least she was unarmed. Other overreacting idiots employed by the City (or State), were the ones who gunned the citizen down.
You should rethink your position, Costco through their agent facilitated the killing of a lawful citizen!
My weapon was returned to me at the end of the initial investigation the same afternoon as I was within my rights and the senior investigating officer was very courteous and professional the whole time. But he did keep the spent casings though.
Why the hell would you pack heat in Costco?
One could almost nominate this guy for a Darwin award. BUT, since he is one of us, a patriot, we’re not saying the obvious: What a STUPID thing to do.
Sorry the man is dead, truly sorry, but I won’t be packing heat in WalMart or other discount stores. ITS NUTS!
It just sounds like a tragic mistake may have been made here.
