Western 'propaganda' Won't Stop Woman's Execution By Stoning, Iranian Official Says
The Woodward Report ^ | July 12, 2010 | Patrick Martin

n a push back against international efforts to save a 45-year-old woman from death by stoning, an Iranian justice official insists that “Western media propaganda” will not prevent him from carrying out the execution as soon as he gets final judicial approval.

Malek Ajdar Sharifi, the judiciary chief of Iran’s East Azerbaijan, says the crimes committed by Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani were so heinous that “if she had only cut [off] the head of her husband, it would have been better than what she has done.”

He told the Iranian New Agency in Tabriz, the provincial capital, that “the verdict has been halted due to humanitarian reservations and upon the order of the honourable judiciary chief and it will not be carried out for the moment,” he said. “Whenever the judiciary chief [Sadeq Larijani] deems it expedient, the verdict will be carried out regardless of Western media propaganda.”

Government officials, celebrities and ordinary citizens from around the world have joined international human-rights organizations in a growing campaign against the stoning sentence given to Ms. Mohammadi Ashtiani. She was first convicted on May 15, 2006, of having an “illicit relationship” with two men, for which she received 99 lashes. At a subsequent trial of a man accused of murdering her husband, Ms. Mohammadi Ashtiani was charged with “adultery while being married.” It is for that crime that she has been sentenced to death by stoning.

On the weekend, Mohammad Javad Larijani, the head of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, lashed out against the international campaign to spare Ms. Mohammadi Ashtiani, while pointing out that stoning is rarely used.

“The commotion that the Western media has started in connection with this case will not affect our judges’ views,” he said, noting that the West is fixated on the form of capital punishment...

If she had anything to do with the murder of her husband, she deserves to die, and I don't really care about the details of how they do it.

I missed originally that she had been acquitted of involvement in the murder of her husband by her lover.

But the way I see things, if she hadn't been screwing around, her husband wouldn't of been killed by one of her lovers... so at the least she should be found guilty of involuntary manslaughter or something.

It appears that what you want is severe punishment for adultery. Are you muslim or something?

If I were president, I’d tell Iran the following: If you stone this woman to death, we will launch an air attack on one of your military bases. Do it again, and we’ll take out two of them. I’m not joking.

I do think adultery should be against the law, and in many states in the US it still is, although it is rarely prosecuted.

If it were up to me... I would give an adulterer a year in jail, male or female.

I have made it clear in several posts now that my position on this has to do with the MURDER of her husband.

I have no pity for murderers.

The lover that murdered her husband should be executed, if she was involved directly, she also should be executed. If she was only indirectly responsible for the murder of her husband then she should of been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter or some other similar charge and been punished for that in whatever way is typical for that country.

As far as the way she is to be punished... I don't see it is any of our business. Either you want a one world government, or you want to protect US and other nations sovereignty... I am for national sovereignty which means the sovereign nation of Iran has the right to decide when, if, or how to execute those who have broken it's laws.

And no, I am not a Muslim... LOL

You’re missing the point. We don’t know if she did have an affair. You can be accused of it on a whim. A woman who is raped can be accused of having an affair and be stoned to death. Get it? Unless you’re one of those misogynistic jerks who thinks a woman “deserves” it. Her son says the accusations are false. Really, why are you here? Even IF this was true (the affair part, even the Iranian court said she wasn’t guilty of murder) does that deserve stoning to death? Civilized nations generally advocate divorce over stoning to death. But since we don’t know whether she had the affairs we can’t say whether her husband was killed by a lover of hers now can we? Maybe hubby cheated someone or slept with someone else’s wife. He have only the word of Iranian MEN that this happened. These people deny the holocaust happened. I hardly think they rate high on the credibility meter.

Setting up a betting pool on “yes” or “no” answer.

Too late. The answer is no. See post 47. It's hopeless. Now he wants a year in jail in this country for adultery. Sheesh!

What we fear, we hate.
What we hate, we seek to destroy.

Actually, looking at his other posts they pretty much mimic they way most DUmmies believe we think and the prejudices we have. Lots of racism and intolerance. I’m surprised he’s lasted as long as he has.

Oh, come now...surely you’re not saying some Muzzie may have trumped up charges against a woman who literally has no legal rights, knowing it would get her killed?

Impossible.

It’s the religion of peace.

Surely they’d never stoop to such lows.

[woops!...my Unicorn needs feeding and I have to go to Walmart for a bale of rainbows...be right back]

“Maybe hubby cheated someone or slept with someone else’s wife.”

An accusation is often a subconscious confession.

It’s entirely within the realm of possibility that *he* “got what he deserved”.

What's your point? Do those states execute adulterers? Would you like them to?

What other "crimes" would you like to have severe punishment for? How about electrocution for jaywalking or 99 lashes for spitting on a sidewalk or drawing and quartering for willful flatulence?

I already said what I thought the penalty for adultery should be for a woman or a man. One year in jail.

In Pennsylvania, adultery is technically punishable by 2 years of imprisonment or 18 months of treatment for insanity.

I frankly don't know how anyone can say they are for family values but wink and look the other way at the act of adultery, which is devastating to not just the immediate family involved also the very fabric of our society.

That’s quite a leap you just made, grasshopper. 50mm doesn’t want to severely punish adulterers, therefore 50mm is against family values? LOL!

Reading some of your posts on other threads and the language you choose, yes. Maybe you’re not but if you don’t want people to think you’ve got some race issues or you’re a troll, I’d work on toning it down a little. You’ve caught the attention of quite a few people on this thread and you haven’t been here all that long.
