WASHINGTON Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts says he will support a sweeping financial regulatory bill, moving the bill closer to the 60 votes it needs to ultimately win final approval.
Brown joins Sen. Susan Collins of Maine as two crucial Republican votes for the legislation.
Democratic leaders were still looking to secure the 60 votes needed to overcome procedural hurdles. They were awaiting word from Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe of Maine and Charles Grassley of Iowa, who supported an earlier Senate version.
Brown won concessions in the bill and said Monday that the legislation "is a better bill than it was when this whole process started."
The 41st Vote against Obamacare is nothing but the 60th vote for everything else. This guy is bad news; but then as everyone on FR continues to say, “it’s Massachusetts, he has to vote like Ted Kennedy would; at least Ted Kennedy didn’t get to vote YES on this”. Also, please tell me how Scott Brown’s influence made this bill any less of a disaster? It is time to barrage this jerk with phone calls and e-mails, the honeymoon is way over, and this bridegroom never deserved the wedding. He’s like the charming man who marries some naive girl, and then he spends the rest of the marriage beating her.
Not soon enough, and not as much as we will :(
See my tagline! But “Poop with sprinkles,,,” would be another good one!
...and what exactly were those concessions, Mr. Brown? Would this bill, had it been in place at the time, have prevented the meltdown? How will it prevent such in the future? Will this bill address the fraud at the ratings agencies and Fannie/Freddie/FHA?
Just because this may be "a better bill than it was when this whole process started." doesn't mean it is a good bill.
The guy actually said that he WOULD “occasionally” vote with the Democrats if it “helps” his constituents.
Obviously he has no clue what helps or what hurts. This is why he and his kind are so damned DANGEROUS!
He pretty much lost me when he skipped the Boston Tea Party - snubbing the people that got him elected.
replace “occasionally” with “mostly” or “always”.
Hell Feingold here in WI is voting against it!
Where's Linus to knock some sense into Brown?
>>In the end...he will very much regret this.
That because he’s in a state where Deval Patrick, former Ameriquest board member, is governor?
Evidently some folks are worried Brown might purge MA$$paperACHUSETTS’ colon of Oligarchic Kleptocrats.
Correct, but I was using Brown’s actual words. I do agree with you however. Brown gave the voters the words they wanted to hear, now what he planned to do. And it is quite obvious that he clearly does not understand Conservative Principles or frugal concepts.
I just “love” Yankee Land. So progressive and forward thinking. The world could not survive without the leadership from our o so intelligent Northern brethren. God bless ‘em all. They are more smarter than us redneck southerners. /s
The democrats are trying to get Brown to vote for the Disclose Act. We have to wonder if he will, he’s obviously up for sale when it comes to helping that party.
More like a pia. I despise politicians who put their own personal careers above everything else, no matter what party they're in. What's even worse is that Massachusetts didn't send Scotty to DC to dance with democrats.
Teddy’s back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminds me of another saying (kinda vulgar but appropriate here): Don’t #### on a plate and call it peanut butter.
His was against Obamacare only because Mass already had a healthcare plan. He said this a few times in interviews and very few people caught on. This guy is going to be a thorn in our side.
Not Coakley. That has to be better than Coakley. Even if Brown is an inconsistent vote, it makes taking the Senate one seat easier.

Helluva job Brownie! Why don’t you get back in that old pick-up of yours and drive off into the sunset. You are now despised by the Tea Party Movement.
