In Search of Islam’s Contributions

Rashad Hussain, President Obama’s special envoy to the Organization for the Islamic Conference (OIC), last month named his boss America’s “educator-in-chief on Islam.” That wasn’t surprising given the President’s Muslim roots and his affinity for some Islamic traditions (he once wrote that the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth”).

Obama clearly takes this title seriously, as recent events have shown. But Hussain’s designation was ironic because the more Obama talks about Islam, the clearer it becomes that he doesn’t seem to understand its most devout adherents.

Obama refuses to acknowledge that radical Islamists are prompted to violence and terrorism by their understanding of their faith. And he fails to recognize that his blame-America-first foreign policy won’t appease an enemy committed to violent jihad and the installation of a global caliphate.

Almost as bad, Obama has been going out of his way to highlight Islam’s supposed contributions—to science and technology, to America, to the world. The main effect of Obama’s Muslim ego-stroking is to call attention to just how little Muslims have actually contributed in the modern age.

NASA administrator Charles Bolden gave an interview in late June to Al Jazeera television and told the Arabic-language news network that before he took his new job, Obama told him that “perhaps” his “foremost” duty was “to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.”

This is ludicrous. It is not our government’s job to make foreigners feel good about themselves. Michael Griffin, a former NASA head, responded that Obama’s NASA Muslim outreach is “deeply flawed.” But the White House is standing by Bolden’s description of his mission.

Not to state the obvious, but if you need to go around “educating” people about all of your contributions, those “contributions” must not be that great. It’s always been my experience that the more a “culture” or nationality needs to brag and be in everybody’s face, the fewer accomplishments they actually have.

Most Americans could care less about Islam and don’t want to learn more about them. Islam goes against everything this country was founded on. Pesonally, I don’t care about Islam. I don’t care whether they exist or not.....just stay out of my country.

Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth"
As an ex navy guy I apologize for my contribution to the islam religion hating us. Me and my fellow squids would walk around alexandria, egypt and make fun of that noise coming from speakers on streets lined with whatever meat it was hanging from strings in the local shops. I remember trash piled on the roofs, some of it burning, on the fine apartment complexes that we could see. I also remember the two living dumps as we drove from alexandria to cairo to go to the pyramids which smelled of pee.
Ahhhh I cannot wait to go back. Wow spell check said I should cap the names of the cities and countries, I don't think so.

With Leonard Nimoy’s past experience with the “In Search Of...” TV program (1976 to 1982) he should be successful in teaming up with NASA to find those positive Islamic contributions to society.

Islam is a curse upon mankind, and so is Badcrack. ...Teaching the virtues of Islam is like teaching the virtues of Socialism. Create a lie stupid people will believe, and keep pounding them with it.

There is a reason that Islam has not contributed to the advancement of civilization and science.

It is against their religion to assume that “Allah” can be trusted to have any consistency in creation. This is called “chaining Allah” and is apostasy.

When you can’t depend on the outcomes of scientific experiments to be consistent, you are not going to pursue science in the scientific method.

Christians/Jews on the other hand, know that God is faithful and reliable and unchanging in nature.

they are successful parents

Well ... yes, I guess. At least they are quite good when it comes to discipline. And, when a child occasionally refuses to toe the line the parents have that honor killing thingy going for them.

The only thing that Islam ever contributed to the world is misery, grief and despair.

the Palestinian children under Arafat had the duty and privilege of being suicide bombers - many were. Of course, the parents were awarded $50,000 per child by Saddam of Iraq.

The muslim president keeps spouting off all the contributions that muslims have made in the world and in the U.S. but has yet to name one. Maybe contributions to his campaign must count as one. Or maybe he considers the separation of the head from the shoulder as counting as a medical contribution.

Obama’s purpose is to kill NASA and use their present budget for his agenda, part of which is submission to the Muslims.

They perfect4ed suicide bombing using men, women and children?

That and two Muslims basically create optics. In 9th century Al Kindi created the science of optics and in the 10th century Al Hazen extended it. As an astigmatic myopic, I appreciate it.
