“Turning buildings into refrigerators burns fossil fuels, which emits greenhouse gases, which raises global temperatures, which creates a need for — you guessed it — more air-conditioning.”

It's all about who gets to decide.

Keeping in mind, of course, that some animals are more equal than others...

When you hear them decry the “wealth disparity”, what they’re really decrying is that the “wrong people” have wealth.

Precisely. "Nail...meet hammer"

I’m going to guess that in our right/wing extreme whacko house, fuel was used much more efficiently than in the typical lib house.

Since conservatives live in the real world - we are better tuned into “cause and affect”

Here in upstate NY window fans generally will do the trick.Last summer we never put in our AC units.

Last week we picked 2 rooms in the house and stuck units in those areas.

Since the heat wave broke, one unit runs on low, and the window fans have gone back up in the other rooms.

We aren’t doing this in the name of global warming though.
The electric bill is enough motivation for us.

I lived without air conditioning up until 3 years ago because I wanted to pay cash for central air.

I'm sure this clown has no idea what it is like living in a house where the second floor temperatures are pushing 85 at 11 PM and all the contents radiate heat all night long, even with fans moving outside air into the house.

I'm sure our Great Leader would like to see everyone over 50--all those Useless Eaters with retirement accounts to confiscate--croak in the heat. This way, they die in their homes and don't take up space in a hospital.

History is not going to treat kindly with these barbarians. How a society treats its weakest and most vulnerable members defines the character of a society, and these 'leaders' would have us treat the elderly like disposable junk.

Not to mention how "unkindly" they will be treated by a bunch of PO'd Americans.

Actually, the Pentagon is desiged to be used without AC. Hence the rings - to allow air in.

*I’m guessing that the writer (can’t bring myself to call him ‘author’) left his air-conditioned home, and drove his air-conditioned car to his air-conditioned office to write this drivel....*

Then he drove his 8 mpg SUV to his $5 million private jet to fly half way around the world to give a talk on convincing people that the global warming hoax is STILL real, but maybe it's methane, or it could be unicorn gas, or mischievous leprechauns casting spells that affect the weather—doesn't matter as long as he gets his $150,ooo speaking fee. Then he goes home to his $9 million home to decide how to spend his tens of millions grifted from the public via his carbon credit scheme....

....no wait...

....that's Al Gore....

Remember right after Odoofus took office he set the thermostats in the WH up because as Gibbs said he was used to the tropics and liked it hotter. I didn’t realize Chicago was in the tropics. However Kenya is a pretty hot climate, I hear.

Contrary to most of these replies I did find some good things in this article, most especially this piece of history; In 1978, 50 years after air conditioning was installed in Congress, New York Times columnist Russell Baker noted that, pre-A.C., Congress was forced to adjourn to avoid Washington's torturous summers, and "the nation enjoyed a respite from the promulgation of more laws, the depredations of lobbyists, the hatching of new schemes for Federal expansion and, of course, the cost of maintaining a government running at full blast."

As has been noted in the past, The first Governmental efforts at "Globull Warming" was done in a well-prepared meeting room where the A/C was turned off, in mid-summer DC when the humidity was 100% and the windows were open. Can you say "STAGED?" A famous factoid from earlier history, the British Government classified diplomatic duty in Washington, DC as a hazardous assignment due to malarial summers and the like.

One thing to note in a contrarian view to this piece is that it is actually an anti-poor viewpoint. Imagine the poor apartment / tenement dweller trying to survive without A/C? Pre-A/C heat waves in our large cities killed thousands! The subway lines out to Coney Island were life-savers in allowing the poor inexpensive access to cooling activities.

Exactly! I don’t try to tell anyone not to drive an SUV but they do so therefore they need to set the example. I think if libtards just shut their mouths, it would cut down on the hot air considerably.

That’s why your utility bills must

“necessarily skyrocket”

” Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. “ — Barack Obama, January 17, 2008

Note to Leftists:

Set the example. Turn off your AC first and lets see how long you last in the heat. I also want you to stop driving your cars now. Get on your bicycle, walk, or take the bus.

Eating meat? Stop that!

Eating junk food? Stop that!

Smoking cigarettes? You better quit that right now before I come over there and go Smoking Nazi on your buttocks!

You dissent against my opinions? Shut your mouth right now before I have you re-educated! Dissent and alternative opinions are not allowed in a Socialist utopia. Dissent is only for free enterprise capitalists.

Is there a local thug trying to shake you down for more money? Give it to the man. Then pay a little extra for the slave reparations.

You think your taxes are too high? You aren’t taxed enough! Pay more or you will go to jail!

Of all the stupid articles I’ve read, this one has got to be the stupidest.

Mechanical refrigeration has greatly improved the lives and significantly alleviated the suffering of many, many people. No doubt it has vastly improved human productivity. As usual, the writer likely has no intention of living as he advocates. He wants to use force to make us all live the way he advocates. He hates freedom. He might as well just come right out and say he hates people. Given the ridiculous tone of the article, I almost expected that he would.

As a side note, I’ll bet Obambi and many Dems in congress agree with this crap.
