I tried it with scotch tape over the weekend, but the critters just jumped off. You’re right; duct tape is better. I’ve been taking benadryl to sleep every night too. It takes away the itching and puts me to sleep. Needless to say, it’s been a dreadful summer. After today, we can get the house fumigated again according to the guarantee in the pest contract. It’s a good thing we really like the cat that brought us this gift!

Thank you for the suggestion!

Poor Stan just to make him feel better I just turned the A/C down 2 degrees. This is a small house and I can aford to keep it on 72º but just for him it will be 70º today. Don’t worry Stan I’ll put on a sweater if it get too cool!

My father in law grew up in DC pre-air conditioning. During the summers people literally left town, and what work was done, was done SLOWLY. Many of DC’s early bedroom communities aka suburbs were created as havens to get out of the mosquito ridden city.

The only thing satisfying about elderkilling is that life goes by far faster than the unaware think, and many of those calling out for it now will be just about ready to get their plugs pulled when they get it down the pike. And whill they whinney!

Ya know our economy, and standard of living are declining and going 3rd world, when using air conditioning during one season out of the entire year is even an issue...

You can all thank your punitive, all controlling bloated government.

You want to push the hot air out, not the cool air in.

What I was going to say abou thtat, Okie, was... before A/C people did anything and everything they could to think of to cool off, and A/C must have been nothing short of a miracle. And to hear some moron whos never sweated up the sheets talk about doing away with it to go back to some quaint, rustic, “schmalll” people time, is abhorrent and patently offensive.

PATHETIC, you guys.

132 posts, but NO ONE mentions Smart Meters. Go look it up on Google - the intent to make it VERY EXPENSIVE to use power when it’s in high demand (summer, late afternoon, anyone). Sure, you can keep your AC, but just don’t bother turning it on during the really hot days, unless you want to go Chapter 7.

You’re right about that. Plus if you get too used to it you end up havin to suffer somebody’s else’s idea of comfortable when you go to their house or a public building, at 72 degrees I will freeze to death.

Temp went down to 80 in our house this evening around 6:00 p.m and my husband and I started to feel cold—no I’m not kidding!!! :) Just really enjoying my rebellion here against the electric company

here in Texas they started to install them, it created a big problem with huge spikes in energy bills, I haven’t heard much lately, I know that they wanted to halt the installation...I’m still pissed off about the dang low flow toilets!!!

These people are insane control freaks.

Why is ASHRAE on the "Green" bandwagon? Yes, they should be attempting to push the efficiency limits as all engineers do.

But to get in bed with the USGBC and LEED?

It's all a leftist anti-human anti-progress fraud. ASHRAE should be backing away from the "Green" fad and sticking to engineering.

Yea - I’m in Texas also. From what I heard, it went something like this: If you agree to the time-based pricing, you get a 10% discount off-peak (80% of the time), but double or triple price during peak - which just happens to be afternoons and early evenings in the summer. LOL.

Carry and wear duct tape?!!???

When fleas invaded my home after decades of flea-free dogs and cats ,the solution was relatively simple cheap:I bought six or eight single use insect "bombs" at the discount store and set off one in each room as per instructions. All spark producing devices turned off first-this is very important.Did this twice within a week or so.Also liberally dusted the carpets and floors with household approved insect powder, and sprayed the joint of baseboards and floors with insect killer. Also had major project washing of all bedding, clothes, and vacuuming carpeting repeatedly.

Probably spent about $30 to $40 on sprays and powders, and spent two days in cleaning.

But I got rid of the fleas.
