In Kansas, Club for Growth PAC taps Pompeo, Huelskamp
Voice for Liberty in Wichita ^ | Bob Weeks

"The Club for Growth is a national organization that advances prosperity and economic growth by promoting economic freedom and limited government. Each year it ranks federal lawmakers on how well they follow these principles on its scorecards. (For a look at how current Kansas Congressman and Senate hopefuls Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran ranked on the scorecard, see Club for Growth gives slight nod to Tiahrt over Moran.)---

"In the race for Republican Party nomination for United States Congress from the first district of Kansas, the Club for Growth PAC endorsed farmer and Kansas Senator Tim Huelskamp of Fowler." ---

"In the fourth district of Kansas, centered around the Wichita metropolitan area, the Club for Growth PAC endorsed Wichita businessman Mike Pompeo."

Paging FReeperdom:

Is Club For Growth still a reasonably good bet to send money towards marginal Congressional races?

Please advise.

I’m totally in their corner. Pompeo and Huelskamp are the best choices in their safe Republican districts. As for the Senate, I also slightly prefer Todd Tiahrt, though Jerry Moran is acceptable.

Ususally it is. In the past, they’ve caused problems in Republican primaries in marginal districts, but they seem to be concentrating more on primaries in secure districts. That’s a far more sound strategy.

I’m partial to Rob Wasinger (the pro-life Catholic who just had his tenth kid) in the KS-01. He was the staffer for Sen. Brownback who led the fight to save Terri Schiavo.

Oh, I didn’t know about him. He sounds like he’d be a good choice, though Tim Huelskamp also sounds good.

Club For Growth is a big player and when it comes to endorsements and results, they are top notch.

Tim Huelskamp has a 14-year voting record in the Kansas Senate as a no-compromise conservative. He is pro-Life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-Law and Order, and as anti-Tax as they come. Not only is he strong against the Dems, but he routinely gets in trouble for bucking the Kansas RINO establishment.
