TIME TO RESET THE RUSSIAN RESET

Barack Obama is right.

It is time to “reset” our relations with Russia.

It’s time to take our lips off their hindquarters, look them in the eye, and tell them to know their place. It’s time to wipe that snotty look off Putin’s face.

Because Russia sucks.

Barack Obama loves Russia, Bill Clinton loved Russia, any number of deep-thinking liberals love Russia. But Russia hates us – and we must never forget that. Though our current foreign policy has as its priorities selling our country out to China, Muslims and Russia, some of us have to remember that self-preservation and self-interest are national duties.

China wants to own us, half of Islam wants to kill us, and Russia wants to rule us.

And Obama wants to help them.

But this is about Russia.

Russia plays by a different set of rules. It plays by the kill-or-be-killed rules that have sadly marked most of human history. Russia is definitely old school.

Its history is one of unending violent conquest, and ruthless social, cultural and military oppression. You’ve got to remember that the Russians sided with Hitler, and that Stalin then out did him, butchering millions of people and savagely dominating nations on two continents.

When the Soviet Union went away, the Russian heart did not change – it merely got a new flag.

When Ronald Reagan declared the Russians an “evil empire,” he wasn’t joking, and he wasn’t wrong. And the same mindset that steered the Russian ship before the Berlin Wall fell is the one that is steering it now.

Dog crap by any other name is still dog crap.

For example, did you know that Russian strategic bombers still routinely fly near and into American and Canadian airspace?

Seriously, like something out of a Cold War flashback, they power up a nuclear bomber and fly it over the pole in the general direction of Sarah Palin’s house.

They send their military into our country.

I thought that we only let Mexico do that.

Bombers designed a generation ago to kill Americans by the millions fly out of Russia, into international airspace, and into our airspace.

And we politely ignore it.

Sometimes we send up fighters to give them the finger, sometimes we don’t.

In recent years, Russia has used military force against at least one weak neighbor, tried to assassinate the president of another neighbor, helped various rogue nations develop nuclear technology, used its oil as a weapon against us, and – as we learned recently – sent a bunch of clowns to spy on us. Russia is not our friend.

We gave them freedom and they gave us organized crime.

Wonderful people, no doubt. Wicked government, also no doubt.

And it’s time to reset our reset.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want to curry favor with the Russians, and are generating only redoubled contempt. We are grabbing our ankles and they are putting a chip on their shoulders.

And we are forgetting the fact that Russia still has a boatload of nukes pointed our way, and that it is opposing our interests on every corner of the globe. It is still an oppressive society where opponents of the president end up imprisoned or dead, and where the cultural impulse to empire has terrified generations of its neighbors.

We need to return to a foreign policy of quiet strength, where we walk softly and carry a big stick. We need to return to a foreign policy of America first and America always. We need to stop apologizing, stop bowing and scraping, and stop kissing the hind ends of peoples, potentates and preachers who want to slit our children’s throats.

We need to stand up to somebody.

Not in the hat-in-hand, hearts-and-minds way we’re doing on the battlefield, but in the true-grit, eyeball-to-eyeball way true powers relate to one another. We need to put our finger in the chest of one of these tinhorns who mock us and tell him to cut the crap.

We need to send a signal to the world that we are done apologizing, done having our pockets picked, done kowtowing to the idiots of the world, done being screwed with by nobodies.

Because if we tell one, we won’t have to tell the others.

It’s like schoolyard bullies, you only have to stand up to one for all or them to leave you alone.

And Putin is a good candidate.

Barack Obama is wrong – America is not weak and evil. Russia is.

And it’s time to say so out loud.

The enemy of Barack's enemy is his friend.

And his friends are Islam, China and Russia.

I admire Putin. The same way I admire a great white shark or a Barrett .50 rifle. Focused, deadly, unconcerned with anything other than eliminating that which is in the way.
Someone once said the problem is not that the Russians were Communists, but that the Communists were Russians :-)

They've got the sharpest, most ruthless and highly focused leader since Ivan the Terrible, and we've got a president that is actually making me long for Jimmy Carter.

I also respect Putin. I don’t like him one bit but I respect him. He is looking out for the best interests of his country and is ruthlessly pursuing them.

As you note, it’s quite unlike our current ruler.
