Mysterious plague outbreak among Syrian army

An outbreak of plague, which is considerd a potential bioweapon, among the Syrian military may be raising more questions than answers.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad recently ordered the shutdown of all Syrian military exercises due to a plague that currently affects a large number of military personnel, according to Examiner.com.

The Syrian president has told Syrian news sources that food and drinking water in military bases, coupled with one of the country’s worst droughts in over 40 years, are responsible for the outbreak of plague.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians are experiencing food shortages, nearly 60,000 small livestock owners have lost all their animals and 50,000 others have lost 50 to 60 percent of their cattle.

The infectious bacterium Yersinia pestis causes the infectious disease plague, which is commonly found worldwide in rats and other rodents. Fleas often serve as common vectors of plague. There are three forms of human plague - bubonic, septicemic and pneumonic.

Humans may also be infected by direct contact with an infected animal, through inhalation and, if it is pneumonic plague, by person to person contact.

Drinking water, food and a heat wave are not common causes of plague, Examiner.com says, unless they have increased the contact between humans and plague carriers.

Because of this, the article says, questions should be raised about the true cause of the Syrian army plague.

> Plague is carried by bacteria on fleas on rodents, right?
In December 1970, in Viet Nam, I contracted Yersinia Pestis while getting my vaccinations updated so that I could go on R&R. Instead of going to Hawaii, I spent 23 days in a hospital. Two buddies and I got plague from defective vaccine administered by our government.

Or else they thought they could mess with the stuff themselves and contain it.

That's what you get when your Health and Safety Regulations are a single page reading "If Allah wills it."

The Syrian president has told Syrian news sources that food and drinking water in military bases, coupled with one of the country’s worst droughts in over 40 years, are responsible for the outbreak of plague.

This runs counter to general epidemiological thought on pest born disease.

Typically outbreaks of vermin carried disease occur during periods of abundant food supplies for the vector host (for example during periods of abundant rain).

A drought would cause a die off of rats and mice; therefore fewer carriers for the plague bacterium.

I suspect the validity of this theory.

So, Obama was right in breaking the arm of the NASA boss and ordering him to help Muslims learn some science.

The plague out break is proven to be Bush’s fault.

You overlooked the fact that the rats in question are Desert Rats and have no fear of drought

Are you calling God a terrorist? ;)

He was just getting warmed up in preparation for the Passover Of the Angel of Death

Ironic how the Jewish feast of PASSOVER is commemorating an act of terrorism against "innocent" children

Bashar al-Asshat should consult with the Egyptians, they’ve had lots of experience with plagues, like locusts, frogs, etc., had something to do with messin’ with God’s chosen people

Excellent comment,mkj.

Hmmm, indeed. Nothing mentioned about a current or serious "outbreak" in Syria at the CDC's website: Plague. It's not uncommon throughout the developing world, and it occurs here in the U.S. as well.

An outbreak of plague in the Syrian army

According to the Syrian opposition in exile, the Syrian president, who is visiting Latin America, ordered the shutdown of all Syrian military exercises, due to a plague that currently affect a large number of military , especially conscripts doing their classes. Drinking water and food in the database, and the heat wave currently affecting, are the cause of the epidemic.

Touched by a terrible drought, this epidemic (which reminds us of the Middle Ages) could make extensive damage in the elements of the Syrian army in the coming weeks. Military sources are rejected completely the possibility of outside intervention that could be causing the epidemic.

Syria is currently facing the worst drought in forty years. Hundreds of thousands of people are experiencing food shortage, cattle farmers were decimated, and many people are fleeing the country. Already, nearly 60 000 small livestock owners have lost all their animals and 50,000 others have lost 50-60% of their cattle

The United Nations has launched, there ‘a few days, a call for help for six months nearly a million people affected by drought in Syria.
The World Food Programme (WFP) started in early June to distribute food rations to some 200,000 people in north-eastern Syria hit by drought for three years, according to a press release dated June 20, 2010 (1).
Anaemia, malnutrition and diarrhea are increasing, especially among children under five and pregnant women.

If the early symptoms of plague have occurred in the military (The Syrian army has 215,000 men, plus 300,000 reservists) it is probable that the soldiers involved in the spread of the disease, especially with the approach of Ramadan when the great number of soldiers return to their villages.
In many regions, mainly in Africa and Asia, are still threatened by the plague because, as we recall these new cases of plague in Syria, the extinction of the disease is not yet signifiée.C easterly 1910 was the last plague epidemic in Europe. Throughout the centuries and around the world, outbreaks of plague are the source of more than 200 million people.

The Arab-fundamentalist propaganda soon speak of a “Zionist conspiracy” behind the epidemic of plague? For a few days then we will forget Gazastrophe fiction and propaganda about the “freedom flotilla.” But for how long?

Today 200,000 people in north-eastern Syria are living through aid that is distributed to those most affected by the drought through a grant provided by the UN and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Commission European. When will “Flotilla Muslim against hunger in Syria?
Namely, if in the end, once and for all, this new plague reaches or does not bassists Syrian perish? Many of us in any case to be desired.

A few days ago, a thread about plague in the Syrian army was pulled because the source only had speculation and Syria had denied it. I wonder if that’s changed or whether this is a rehash.

You'll have to take that up with Almighty God Himself, because those sort of questions are definitely above my payscale.

But to paraphrase an old bumper sticker, "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it."

Have a great week Bob!

” A few days ago, a thread about plague in the Syrian army was pulled because the source only had speculation “

Guess I missed that other thread — Like I said in my ‘comment’ post, I’m not familiar with this source (it came up in an on-going Google Search I’ve had running for years), so I posted it as ‘fwiw’...

Won’t break my heart if the Mods decide it’s still just speculation/rumor/propaganda.....
