Few small-business owners would hire more workers even if they had more money, according to the monthly American Solutions survey.
Almost half (46%) would put the extra money into savings and 15% would hire more workers. One in 17 would use the money to delay laying off existing employees.
This is the basic reason for the lack of job creation even though most experts think the economy is no longer in recession.
The cautious behavior shows entrepreneurs are still very reluctant to make any large investments or outlays of new capital given the current economic environment, says American Solutions, a group chaired by former Congressman Newt Gingrich, that is conducting jobs summits across the country including Irvine.

Its happening now. Local police sheet reveals assaults on car drivers... read between the lines and look at the bumper stickers...
Business only hire when demand for products or services increases. Demand is now shrinking so why hire anyone and increase overhead when sales are falling?
There is hope A.L.....
I have a neighbor that had an Obama yard sign and watched his wife full of glee the day off at the poles.
The thrill is gone baby...
They now have a yard sign of a Conservative Women running for State Rep that I know and would consider one of us and a tea party type on their front lawn.
Talk about "Change", lets hope their are many more....
0 has turned our economy in a game of rummy where you don’t want to get “caught” holding cards (employees).
Why wait? I routinely cut them off and run them off the road now.....
I just give them the “hairy eyeball”.
I’d like to shout “thanks for voting against my family, azzhole!”
I showed great restraint on the 4th by not yelling something at Dennis Moore, (D), 3rd Dist Ks, when he walked by me in a parade this last weekend.
I did icily refuse a “Steh Feen” Moore pamphlet they were handing out.
LOL. I flip some off if I can get their attention.
Sounds like the typical hire where I work. They start out and stay temps for ages though. I had enough sense to find an application and filled it out and sent it in and started as a full timer from day one.
I found out many months later I was the single exception to the temp rule.
I was out recently due to some medical problems for a couple of weeks. When I came back this week, I was surprised to see a whole department gone. That department is an extension of one of the core businesses. I am in what I call the “sacrificial lamb” department considering the weird and outright deliberate negligent planning of some higher ups. It says a lot when you’ve been gone a couple of weeks and your leader type doesn’t even bother to IM a “hello” or welcome back. It comes as no surprise.
I figure I am going to be gone or worse busted down sooner or later. The sad thing is that while I am no electronics or IT whiz, just very knowlegeable, almost all of the rest know next to nothing about technology.
If/when the day of reckoning comes, I will leave. There is no way I am going to go to special needs section. I will gladly go back to contracting. I turn a fair amount of that away.
