A photographer taking pictures of a BP refinery in Texas was detained by a BP security official, local police and a man who said he was from the Department of Homeland Security, according to ProPublica, a non-profit news organization in the U.S.

Are we nearing a point where M.L. will declared by the "Juan" (A.K.A. The Won)
Do follow the link and read the whole story use the links they provide also.
IMO this is starting to sound like we are crossing into a Polics State.
A voice in my head keeps whispering "never let a crisis go to waste" every time I read stories like this...
Glad they checked him. He might have been a terrorist scouting for an attack. Sounds like they were doing their jobs.
Or maybe he was a terrorist looking for targets?
Congrats! You are sounding just like the LibTards were about this time before the 2008 elections.
INBN
If he was a terrorist, do you suppose he doesn’t have access to google-earth?
There is really nothing unusual here. Security is tight at many industrial complexes and threats and suspicion of threat are taken very seriously.
Except in 2008 we didn't have a marxist in office....just sayin..
Didn’t you ever travel to a communist country? They had signs on public buildings and key industrial and transportation facilities warning you to not take pictures. No reason to think things would be different here.
he was followed by a BP employee after taking a picture on a public road near the refinery”
What picture of a refinery can you take from the road that would require a “representative of the Joint Terrorism Task Force who determined that the photographer’s actions did not pose a threat to public safety.”?
Would it be any of these?:
We had pictures takers at Shell all of the time. It’s a no no.
The ones that got me were the two middle eastern guys taking pictures of what we call the underground tunnel. They were taking pictures waist high of all the doors including exit doors. So you never know.
Simple fact: Since 9/11, you are NOT ALLOWED to tale photos of refineries. I transport propane out of them daily, and if I get caught taking any pics, I lose my ability to enter them ever again.
This is nothing but proper security. No ML!
If you want to get access to any refinery, or any port in the US today, you need a TWIC card (Terminal Worker’s Identification Credential). That’s THE LAW.
This picture reminds me so much of Evita and her evil dictator husband...Don't cry for me Argentina!!
That would make me nervous.
Concerning photos at your link:
Ever hear of a telephoto lens (used at ground level)? Or, do you want to risk the possibility of a horrific “accidental” (w/sarcasm) explosion.
I am glad the photographer was detained and questioned.
Gwjack
It did.
I actually didn’t know they had refineries on a list of no pics.I’ve lived close to refineries and been to refineries and never thought one would need detail planning to blow it up.My bad.
