This is an exchange between Michael Savage and a lady named Jo who lives in Boca Raton, Florida. They’re discussing the Arizona Immigration Law. Folks, this is the perfect example of the intellectual level, and mind set of the typical liberal:
Savage: Let’s go to Boca Raton, Florida. She’s on the other side; Jo in Boca Raton, welcome. You say the Arizona law is wrong. Is that correct?
Jo: Yes, I think it’s absolutely racist; that they’re telling illegal aliens can’t come into Arizona. They can do what they want to. I mean, we’re America, we have open borders …
Savage: Wait. Wait. You’re saying too many things at once. They’re saying what?
Jo: That we need to have…
Savage: Wait. Wait. Wait. Ma’am, are you aware of the fact that a country has borders? Are you aware of that?
Jo: I’m saying tha we need to get rid of our borders so we can welcome all forms and walks of life.
Savage: Of course you’re pulling my leg.
Jo: I’m serious. Just look at how your ancestors got here.
Savage: Well, they didn’t come here illegally. Maybe your’s did. How did your’s get here? Did they come here illegally?
Jo: I don’t know. But they got here somehow. And now …

Savage: Wait. Wait. Wait a minute! Obama pays it out of his pocket? Where does he get the money from Jo?

Savage: What do you mean you don’t know where he gets it from? It’s called the Public Treasury. Where does the money come from into the Public Treasury Jo?
Jo: Illegal aliens who work for a living, then they pass the money to the government.
Savage: Jo, you’re a very sick person. I really, I really pity you Jo, and you should never hve been able to get on this show; because a man once defined Hell as a place where there is no reason, and you just dragged me into Hell Jo.

I had never heard her before that call. When it first aired, my husband and I stared at each other with our mouths open (and not because we’re “mouth-breathers.” HA!). I thought she HAD to be joking, but she stuck to her story without cracking up laughing. Regardless, there are actually people who do think like she talked, and those people vote.

And the doc didn’t like it — officially — but his rating loves her appearance.
How is that Av?
Because the programmers know that anything that allows the audience to say to themselves: “oh what a fool!” oh what a jerk!.” etc. let’s the listener feel SUPERIOR.
For those who think I’m wrong, let me relieve you.
One of the most popular recurring bits on Jay Leno is “Jay Walking.”
The subjects of his interviews KNOW they don’t get on air giving Jay the RIGHT answers, only stupid-funny ones. They’ve got their TiVos set at home to capture their moment on-air performance. Are there people this stupid. Of course. But they’re not smart enough to be waiting for Jay Leno knowing what it takes to make it onto national TV.
Same thing with Jo. Savage and the listeners say “she makes the show look stupid.” But the programmers know what boosts ratings. Make the listener feel good.
In talk radio, what is the Holy Grail? Ratings!

I think part of the appeal is not so much that the listener feels “superior” to the “dumb” schmuck, but instead feels an awe, nearing horror, that people actually are that deaf, dumb and blind—in America.

Your reaction, I fear, is the intent of some who play the roll of dummy as well as some who welcome their performance.
How does tyranny gain from this?
Once you are convinced that a very large number of Americans are really as dumb as Jo or any of the Hollywood locals appearing on Jay Walking or any of the guests on any show (e.g. Jerry Springer) that showcases geeks with a story, you are more apt to believe fake voter results.
These sort of people are provocative, and provocative is entertaining even if it’s terrible and even repetitive (witness rubber-neckers at every highway accident), and entertaining begets ratings, so the allowance of the appearance geeks “sells.” In many of these shows, acting dumb pays well.
The downside, if we permit it to be, is that we become convinced there are many more REALLY like them. Anyone who feels that way and lives in a society with democratic voting, is going feel overwhelmed and despondent. You think “I am surrounded by dummies, so what’s the use?” That helps the vote riggers and the tyrant.
I’m not a dummy, nor do I play one on the radio. Ha.
Though none of us can possibly know the actual numbers, I am under no illusions about the intelligence, or lack thereof, in our society.
I know that right-thinking people are the majority, and still a large majority at that, but that majority is shrinking due to decades and decades of relentless paper cuts against our country by the anti-American enemy within. And, under this new hellish administration, the paper cuts have become lacerations.
The truly right-thinking people will not contribute to tyranny by being lulled to sleep in false bravado. We’re wide awake now.
