There was no picture of it accompanying the Mercury News article. How lame.
I struck by the fact this is a favorable article in the Mercury News....Maybe there is hope.
If management at Caltrans had half a brain, they would allow these people to “adopt” the concrete siding and the mural. That way they could keep the mural in repair and Caltrans would get some good publicity for being patriotic and working with the public. Other states have “Adopt A Highway” programs and even have “Adopt a Historic Marker” programs where private persons or groups clean up stretches of roadway or maintain historic markers.

Would CalTrans have covered it over if it had been a Mexican flag?
Yes, it would have been an excellent place to insert some sort of electronic version of a visual representation, like say, a picture!?
Or they could have just contacted Reuters and asked them to make one up.
It's the merc. What did you expect???
Thanks, Steve & Jim, for repainting the flag.
Even in California there are a fair number of conservatives/Republicans.
They just have to live “in the closet” or risk losing their jobs
or public shunning.

It’s there just now — but there is a commerical I had to wait through.
Very cool!
With California in such economic distress, you would think Caltrans could find something better to do with its funds.
Above it should read, “Touch it again and die”.

A grateful nation thanks you, Jim and Steve!
