FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CN) - Fort Wayne public schools let Christian churches bring a trailer onto campuses and give students "religious release time" instead of attending "their regular class schedule," and does it without parents' permission, parents say in a federal complaint.

Fort Wayne Community Schools lets the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County use public school property and time to run "a religious release time program, entitled Weekday Religious Education, for students in the third, fourth and fifth grades," according to the complaint.

The churches call it "a Christian program that works in cooperation with area public schools systems that allow third, fourth, and fifth grade students to take time out of their regular class schedule to participate in religious education."

The plaintiffs, D.S. and A.S., say their child was sent to the religious education program "for a number of weeks ... without their knowledge or consent."

Well we can’t have any of this now can we, teaching kids the difference between right and wrong and the ten commandments would be well, criminal.

Of course the daily gang and drug related killings, robbery’s, breaking and enter thefts, will continue unabated.

Any Hoosiers know the rest of this story? It seems unlikely or mis-represented.
BTW, in Maine, schools give out condoms to schoolchildren even if parents object.

I went to a Public School in Rochester NY circa 1950. The Parish Priest came to the school and picked us up. We walked to the Church for an hour of Religious Instruction.

The priest (Father Weinman) was wonderful. He died in a fire at the church trying to rescue the chalice from the tabernacle. A wonderful example of an AMERICAN HERO.

But it's ok for other peoples kids to get free condoms, fisting kits, and abortions without their parents consent, right?

Support unfettered school choice. That way, parents DO get to decide.

I attended public schools in the 50’s and 60’s in Rochester, NY. During my grammar school years (grades 1-7), we were excused in the afternoon, one day a week, to attend religious instructions at the Catholic school and church a few blocks away. Our parents would sign permission slips for our attendance, which would occur throughout the school year. I can’t recall if this same opportunity was afforded us once we went to highschool. I’m assuming the Rochester School District stopped the practice at some point, but I have no idea when that was.

I was born and raised in Rochester. I went to #21 school (Jonathan Child school) on Colvin Street, which is off Jay Street. Where did you go to school? Spent my highschool years at Madison.

This is a step in the right direction, because, unless America turns to God, judgements such as the Mexican invasion, the Muslim war and the Democrat takeover will worsen.
