Obama got one right!
(1) Permanently bar any illegal caught on American territory from any path to citizenship.
(2) Fine all businesses that hire illegals without making an appropriate effort to distinguish illegals, and make the fines hefty enough that it is no longer profitable to treat these fines as a cost of doing business.
(3) Secure the border to such a degree that illegals expect to fail in at least most crossing attempts, and hold them for long enough before returning them to Mexico that they will have lost an opportunity to work rather than treating being caught as simply a lost day.
(4) Get out of the way of the states, and support them in every possible way as they enforce federal law.
