Where in the Constitution is it written that anyone is guaranteed access to the internet?

Why is a broke government borrowing money to pay for this?

hmm, 1.8 million dollars to provide 42 libraries with internet access. That comes to $43,000 per library. I don’t know how it is possible to cost that much unless they are receiving golden modems. Seems they just need to pay a monthly fee to the ISP and get a $50 router and they should be ready to go. Barry has no clue what things cost anymore. He’s so accustomed to the royal treatment that he overallocates for everything. His attitude towards money reveals most clearly his total lack of experience.

(Mind of a liberal) - High speed internet isn’t a luxury you should have to pay for, IT SHOULD BE FREE BECAUSE ITS A RIGHT!!!

Do YOU use dialup?>>>>>>>

Not for 8 years but I used dial up before that and Free Republic was usable via dial up. Free Republic is a reasonable measure.

Sure I like DSL or cable internet a lot more but if I’m in a rural area I could get along just fine with dial-up if I had to. But the Democrats tax my high speed access to death to buy votes by building/subsidizing rural high speed access

Honestly I have forgotten what its like to be on dialup. I might have to go back to it should I move into a rural area since they dont do dsl or cable out that way. Guess if that happens, no more Youtube or Usenet for me. :(

Hard times.

"However, we should think carefully about what broadband internet connections are used for in the "blue zones" to see more of the picture here. Think "red light cameras" and "gunshot triangulation systems"."

...and don't forget all the mudlum jihadists in the "out areas" who can't get properly connected with the "NEW" Al-Qaida web site that just launched.

along with paying for mortgages, abortions, medical treatments, cellphones, and car payments... now i’m paying for the moochers internet service? can’t they mooch their internet @ mcdonalds like other people?

and of course, if you make over $50k/yr ... you are not entitled to any of the ‘freebies’ (ie: other peoples money)

i’d have to be an idiot to keep paying into this freakin scheme.

if someone walked up to me on the street, threatened me with violence, and demanded i hand them 66-75% of what’s in my wallet... every day on the way home from work... how long before i pulled out a gun and shot the a**holes?

(** how many babies have YOU paid to have killed today? costs $1k each. do the math. **)

To get youtube via dial up I think lining up three videos then going to sleep...they would be ready for you in the morning. For a school boy using the internet for his assignments. Dial-up should be OK. He will be looking at text which dial-up is fast enough for

Dial up should be fast enough for facebook.

Funny you should mention facebook..which the SO loves...me, not so much. I’d prefer Youtube HD, Hulu, Usenet, etc so it will be quite an adjustment. Yeah I thought of letting it go overnight too, but that is difficult when someone posts on freerep a “must see now!” vid of Obama getting impeached by the house and senate and I have to wait till morning to see it :)

And here I was just thinking that it’s completely weird to think some of this will go to libraries. While some people go to libraries, there’s a whole raft of folks who do not. Libraries do have good Net connections, but they also have blocks on a lot of things. Besides. They close.
