He once had a fleeting association with the Ku Klux Klan, what does that mean? I'll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollows from West Virginia. He was trying to get elected," former President Bill Clinton said of Sen. Robert Byrd.
"And maybe he did something he shouldn't have done come and he spent the rest of his life making it up. And that's what a good person does. There are no perfect people. There are certainly no perfect politicians," he added.

Not something to be proud of.
Doesn’t surprise me...democrats will throw their grandmother’s under the bus to get elected...right barry?
KLU instead of KU (which is correct) is more of a colloquialism. Sort of how you grew up pronouncing it. I always say “KLU” ... just a learned habit. (Indiana raised). Would be interesting to know if other areas of the country do the same?
For dems, ideological purity trumps personal morals every time.
Does anyone here know the proper terminology for this type of governing?
Where you lead by polls and whatever is popular at the time? Your morals are based on however the popular wind blows.
I used to think it was popularism but that isn't right. I know has to be a terminology for it but I can not figure it out.
thanks
“...he spent the rest of his life making it up.”
Making it up!? Sounds like a Democrat’s resume to me.
Bill and Hillary must truly be stupid ...
They would do anything to get elected ... even staying in the demoRat party ... duh, the party that threw them under the bus ... for the first articulate dark skinned smiley faced 1/2 africian 1/2 American to come along.
That’s right mr. and ms. clinton ya was thrown under the
-— someway for folks to show their appreciation for all your hard work -— show some pride and leave the marxist leftest demorats -— start your own party cause the one you used to belong to is going down with the economy and the rest of the moochers.
I’ll tell you what it means. He’s a democrat. End of story.
I always knew Clinton was a liar. How much more obvious can Byrd’s segregationist views be? How is it the Democrats try to tie David Duke around Republican necks, while praising this former Klan official? The racist and segregationist views of the Democrats are there in the history of the U.S., for anyone who wants to see them.
So many responses, so little bandwidth!! Where to begin with this LATEST piece of Clinton lunacy???
“”And maybe he did something he shouldn’t have done come and he spent the rest of his life making it up. And that’s what a good person does. There are no perfect people. There are certainly no perfect politicians,” he added.”
Tell it to Strom Thurmond!
I'd actually forgive Klan mambership for someone that old. It's quite possible for a weak kid back then to get swept-up. Die-hard Klan recruiter who established his own chapter is an entirely different matter.
The real covert poison in this statement is the implicit condemnation of the people of West Virginia - that without Klan affiliation Byrd would not heve been able to win an election.
This is the newly express Democrat viewpoint. Like Murtha’s dismissal of his constituency as ‘rednecks’, and Nasty Pelosi’s dismissal of the MAJORITY of Americans as ‘nazis’.
This is a drift to tyranny. The drift is slow, but it is open and it is unchecked.
Unpopular tyrants do NOT usually have ‘happy endings’.
Now they use pity instead of demonetization of a group (except for the attacks on republicans who don't pity).
What do you call this type of governing? Where you govern by what is popular at the time?
My family is from WV, and they weren't involved with the KKK back then. That was insulting.
It’s the stupid, lazy, lowlife party, so it’s naturally very popular

Agree with each and every one of your points in the whole post.
The strength of the Democratic party is that is appeals to people’s vices.
That is a very interesting and very well put statement.
Instead of appealing to someones virtue the left appeals to their vices.
That is like Darth Vader stuff right there.
