A Letter to Michael Steele [Resign as chairman of the Republican party......]

A Letter to Michael Steele BY William Kristol July 2, 2010 12:12 PM

Dear Michael,

You are, I know, a patriot. So I ask you to consider, over this July 4 weekend, doing an act of service for the country you love: Resign as chairman of the Republican party.

Your tenure has of course been marked by gaffes and embarrassments, but I for one have never paid much attention to them, and have never thought they would matter much to the success of the causes and principles we share. But now you have said, about the war in Afghanistan, speaking as RNC chairman at an RNC event, "Keep in mind again, federal candidates, this was a war of Obama's choosing. This was not something that the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in." And, "if [Obama] is such a student of history, has he not understood that you know that's the one thing you don't do, is engage in a land war in Afghanistan?"

Needless to say, the war in Afghanistan was not "a war of Obama’s choosing." It has been prosecuted by the United States under Presidents Bush and Obama. Republicans have consistently supported the effort. Indeed, as the DNC Communications Director (of all people) has said, your statement "puts [you] at odds with about 100 percent of the Republican Party."

And not on a trivial matter. At a time when Gen. Petraeus has just taken over command, when Republicans in Congress are pushing for a clean war funding resolution, when Republicans around the country are doing their best to rally their fellow citizens behind the mission, your comment is more than an embarrassment. It’s an affront, both to the honor of the Republican party and to the commitment of the soldiers fighting to accomplish the mission they’ve been asked to take on by our elected leaders.

I completely forgot about this guy. Where has he been? That is kinda sad that the Republican National Committee Leader could be forgotten so easily especially for a FREEPER to boot.

Yup, his time is up. He needs to make an “I need to spend more time with my family” statement, and fast!

Aint gonna happen now. Perhaps after November results are in.

I think he remains the face of the progressive sect in the party, but that is not necessarily a bad thing with a general election coming. The primaries went well, in spite of him, so I think Krystol, who is not really a conservative, should keep his neocon mouth shut until mid November.

Maybe this time they’ll choose someone with a brain and some [proverbial] testicles. Most of the candidates, in my opinion, happen to be the women in the party.

"Keep in mind again, federal candidates, this was a war of Obama's choosing. This was not something that the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in."

I'm not a fan of Bill Krystal, so I had to Google this quote for other sources because I couldn't believe Steele is this ignorant. He really did say this, and he's got to go!

It’s rather ironic Bill Kristol, one of the most luke warm Republican buckets of horse sweat I have had the displeasure to observe in my lifetime, asking another luke warm Republican bucket of horse sweat to resign.

It just goes to show, a dumb ass di_khead Democrat enabler can accidentally stumble across truth even if they do still remain in a helpless political stupor.

Bill, how about letting a person who actually grasps ten percent of the Conservative mindset take your place as the token Republican voice on the weekend talking head shows?

It’s been years since anyone actually saw our views presented in an intellectual manor on those shows, and yet you lament the job others are doing.

He really did say this, and he's got to go!

I absolutely could not agree more! I too had to verify this quote and sadly it's accurate.

"If you don't want me in the job, fire me. But until then, shut up. Get with the program or get out of the way."

GOP, he has begged you to do it. Just Do It!

This latest from Steele is atrocious. Added with the a.) supports progressive RINO's, b.) went on a book tour (yeck) and c.) the RNC has messed up EVERY golden opportunity handed to them this year (REPEAL ObamaCare, CrapNTax, Financial overhaul, amnesty to name a few) AND this...STEELE HAS GOT TO GO.

Either that, or the Republican Party (as it stands) has got to go.

As to doing damage to the Republican party, Steele is a flea on an elephant compared to Lindsey Graham.

Apparently Steele is an idiot. But what is really scarey is that lately one Washington politician after another is being exposed as idiots too. How did this ever happen to our country?
