Pelosi Sneaked Approval of Vote on Debt Commission Recommendations into Rule Regarding War...

Pelosi Sneaked Approval of Vote on Debt Commission Recommendations into Rule Regarding War Funding, Vote Happening Tonight................ FDL has learned that in a last minute move, Nancy Pelosi sneaked language into the rule that the House is voting on tonight regarding war funding.

Embedded in the rule is the requirement that the House will vote on the deficit commission’s recommendations in the lame duck session if they pass the Senate.

The commission, co-chaired by Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, is packed with members who favor the raising the retirement age to 70, means testing, and private accounts. Many also support investing 20% of the Social Security trust fund in the stock market.

It’s ironic that yesterday Pelosi sent out press releases criticizing John Boehner for expressing the very same positions on cutting Social Security benefits that Jim Clyburn, Joe Biden and Steny Hoyer have. She’s putting this language into the rule in order to deflect responsibility from herself when it comes to the floor for a vote during a lame duck session, since without her approval that could never happen.

It’s beginning to REALLY appear that the Dems, knowing that their power ends in January, are setting up to use the Lame Duck Congress to shove as much crap down our throats as possible.

It is up to us to MAKE THEM PAY FOR IT (at the polls, of course).

I want Pelosi to fall in the shower and break her hip... no, make that both hips and maybe even an arm, a couple of teeth, her nose and her tailbone.

There, that ought to do it.

She certainly doesn’t need the money.
Her husband is a mega millionaire, owns blocks of valuable real estate, wineries, a football team, yadda yadda.

Of course the wineries don’t hire union labor, LOL.

haha Whenever she is listening to O’ speeches and her and Biden sit behind the President she is constantly bobbing up and down out of her seat to give her messiah appause. I wish she would lose her balance and fall over the desk she is sitting behind I think the embarrasment of that on live tv would affect her more than anything else. For people like her style matters over everything else and to be perceived a clod on tv is not stylish but it sure would be funny.

what makes me so mad about raising the retirement age to 70 is that employers aren’t going to keep over 65 yr old employees on, so there will be a period of no job, no ss money for us.

Before we condemn automatically, what is being done might actually be a good idea.

To start with, Social Security is dead already. The money that was paid into it was spent decades ago, and then some. The US government is bankrupt. There is no possible way that what is owed can be paid. Yet at the same time, there is no *political* way to get rid of the rotting water buffalo in the living room.

Oddly enough, by their actions Obama and the Democrats may finally *end* socialism in the United States!

The biggest parts of the federal budget are Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Those three are almost 40% of federal spending.

One of the essential elements of Obamacare was that it had to *kill* both Medicare and Medicaid, with the idea of bringing the people on board those programs into Obamacare. Sneaky plan, and already underway. Medicare is already dying on the vine right now.

But what happens if both Medicare and Medicaid are killed, and *then* the Supreme Court throws out Obamacare? It will mean that the vast majority of government health care is over. No more socialized medicine.

Yet this leaves Social Security. So what are they proposing again?

“Raising the retirement age to 70, means testing, and private accounts. Many also support investing 20% of the Social Security trust fund in the stock market.”

Means testing is the big one, but last time it was proposed, it was met with a firestorm of outrage from all the people who paid money into the system (which was spent), and wanted their money back, even though they had other means to pay for their retirement.

Yet if they could slip means testing into Social Security, as well as raise the retirement age, it would probably be viable for a hundred years, without killing the federal budget. Especially if there was investment that gave better than minimum returns, like the stock market usually does.

So while it would make SS viable again, it would effectively end it for the vast majority of people enrolled in it. And with the prospect for never getting anything back, they, and the courts, are not going to be thrilled with such a tax.

In such a backhanded manner, wouldn’t it be ironic that the Democrats, intentionally or most likely unintentionally, wiped out the majority of socialism in the US?

Firedoglake is a far left source, but they often do good work over there. I usually learn something new when I poke my head in there.

Thanks for posting the piece.

Yes I was just thanking G-d for saving us via Bryd and asking if perhaps he might work just a bit more to help save us. Not kill them just put them out of commision for 6+ months.
