“Is Chris Cox channeling Pelosi?”
.
Cox comes from a wealthy family with a long hunting tradition, and that, and that alone is his connection to guns. He is essentially a traditional elitist old school NRA member.
He has zero connection to the real RKBA gun rights movement, and is probably embarrassed by having their members involved in the NRA. The old NRA was a “Jim Crow” gun club to the core, but had to transform itself in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
.
GOA is a great political group, but CCRKBA and SAF are mainly organized to help ... themselves. A few years ago I found out that like 97% of their funds go to the running of the organization and the rest (3%?) actually finds it's way to the "cause." They produce a great publication in The New Gun Week, but that's about all.
The NRA is still the monster gorilla in the room legislatively speaking. That means gun bills folks, not politics. There is a difference. Legislation is still a pretty straightforward proposition. Politics, especially political campaigns is a much dirtier business and is terribly muddled in the execution, which is why there have been so many great books and movies about the entire process.
I've been an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor for 20+ years and a life member longer than that. But I'm not going to quit over this. If I quit, I can't interact and I can't do anything to effect change at any level. That's one reason I haven't quit the Republican Party. In fact it's the main reason. That and the fact that I HATE to admit defeat on any level and quitting either or both of those groups is akin to an admission of defeat.
So if any of y'all want to stomp your feet, throw a tantrum and/or threaten to hold your breath until you die... Well, be my guest. It will have exactly the same effect on NRA that such a tantrum by a kid has on the average good parent. ZIP.
Your not going to quit over what ?
.......the rumor ?
.... or was “this”, in your opinion, a valid fubar by NRA ?
I was actually referring to how Pelosi says we’re all stupid and Cox says we’re ignorant.
Too early to tell, but it wouldn't be their first such FUBAR. I remember back in the 1980s, when they were busily trumpeting that the United Nations presented no threat to our gun rights. They held onto that boner for a good number of years.
Yep.......no one is perfect in politics........;o)
Stay safe !
