ABCs Good Morning America reports that two 911 calls were made from Kaine and Terri Moulton Hormans Portland home last weekend, one with alleged threats of some kind lasting 13 minutes.
FBI agent and ABC news consultant, Brad Garrett, said to file the type of emergency restraining order that he did, Kaine Horman would have had to make the case that his wife posed an immediate threat to him or their 18-month old daughter, according to Garrett.
The restraining order prohibits Terri Horman from having contact with her other children, an older son and the toddler daughter. Kaine Horman is asking Oregon courts for sole custody of the little girl.
The order also prohibits Terri Horman from possessing any guns, according to The Associated Press.
The calls were made Saturday evening, the second call coming in just after 11:30 p.m., the same day Kaine Horman, Kyrons biological father, left the family home the couples 18-month-old daughter.
Two days later Kaine Horman filed a restraining order against Terri and for dissolution of marriage citing irreconcilable differences.
A look into the Horman family history
A records search showed Terri was convicted of a DUI in 2005 in which she pleaded guilty not only for driving under the influence, but also to reckless endangerment of another. She had her then 11-year-old son, James, in the vehicle at the time.
A spokeswoman for the court in Marion County, Oregon, said Horman was sentenced to 12 months probation, a 90-day suspension of her drivers license, and she had to attend counseling programs and attend a victim impact statement.
Terri also had nine traffic infractions between 1988 and 2004, including several for speeding and one for driving with an expired license.
Oregon Live reported that Terri married her first husband, Ronald Tarver, Jr., in 1991. By 1995, they were divorced. In 1994 they had a son, James Tarver.
In 1996 Terri married Richard Charles Ecker. Ecker later adopted James.
In 2000 Terri earned her bachelors degree from a Eugene, Oregon, college.
That same year Kyrons biological mother, Desiree Young, married his biological father, Kaine Horman. Kaine is an engineer at Intel.
In 2001 Terri and Ecker are separated and divorced by 2002.
In 2002 Desiree files for divorce, claiming irreconcilable differences. She was 8-months pregnant with Kyron.
Desiree gives birth to Kyron September 9, 2002.
Ecker and Terris divorce is final that year.
In 2003 Desiree and Kaines divorce is final. They share custody of Kyron who lives mostly with Desiree.
By 2004 Terri is back in school and earns her masters in education at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
Also in 2004 Desiree moves to Canada for medical treatment. Terri, Desirees friend, offers to move in with Kaine to help care for Kyron, a toddler at the time. She brings her son James with her.
Just two months later Desiree returns from Canada with $30,000 in bills. She moves in with her parents in Medford and allegedly did not try to regain custody of Kyron. She did maintain a relationship with him.
In 2004 a relationship between Terri and Kaine developed while Terri lived in the home.
The following year in 2005 Terri places 4th in the over-35 category for women in the Emerald Cup of bodybuilding. That same year she was charged with the DUI and child endangerment.
Terris friends have painted the picture of a dedicated stay-at-home mom who gave up her career to spend time with then-toddler, Kyron, and her son from her previous marriage.
Some have questioned, how did she have time to train for the bodybuilding competition while caring full-time for two children? Your comments welcome below.
In 2007 Kaine and Terri are married in Hawaii after living under the same roof while she helped care for Kyron.
On October 24, 2008, court records show Kristian Scott Horman, Kaines biological brother, invited a 15-year-old girl and another child into his bed while his girlfriend was out of town. While they were in bed Kristian massaged the teens back and then touched her crotch area. More >>
Less than two months later, on December 8, 2008, Kaine and Terri had a baby girl, Kiara. Reports have indicated Terri always wanted a girl.
Terris first husband, Ron Tarver, allegedly told reporters he was flooded with photos and email updates about the baby girls progress which he found unusual since he was not close to the family. Others allegedly received photos and email updates as well.
In 2009 Kristian Horman was arraigned on the alleged child molestation case in Seattle, Washington.
On November 28, 2009, Terri allegedly posted a link to a bodybuilding website stating, Ill add the photo tomorrow, too tired right now ugh. Click here for the link. Terri is the bodybuilder on the far right.
The following day, Terri allegedly posts on the same site stating she is "looking for friendship."
In 2010 things took a turn for the worst in the Horman family.
James, Terris son, moves out of the Horman home and in with his grandparents. He now allegedly lives with his father. There has been no explanation as to why he moved out of Kaine and Terri's home.
On June 4, Kyron disappeared from his elementary school. Terri claims she was the last person to see him when she dropped him off after a school science fair that morning. The school was open to the public. When she went back to pick him up at the bus stop, he wasnt there. She learned he was marked absent at school.
On June 16, Kristian Horman, Kyrons uncle, is found guilty of 3rd degree child molestation. He was taken into custody June 16 and is now serving a 6-month sentence at the Snohomish County Jail.
On June 19 a second questionnaire was distributed to everyone who was at Skyline Elementary the day Kyron disappeared, this time focusing on if anyone had seen Terri or her truck that day. News reports indicate Terri was given a second polygraph test by police.
On June 25 a new fact emerged that Kaine was with Terri when she went to pick Kyron up at the bus stop on June 4.
On June 26 Kaine Horman, Kyrons father, moves out of the family home taking his 19-month-old daughter with him. New reports indicated two 911 calls were made that night.
On June 28 Terri is served with a restraining order and divorce papers from her husband, Kaine. Kaine is filing for divorce claiming irreconcilable differences.
Police will not comment about the divorce, saying it is a personal family matter. Terri denied anything was wrong with their relationship to the media.
On June 29 and Oregon judge seals the restraining order against Terri.
Most recently, ABC Good Morning America reported that Terri has hired a high-powered criminal defense attorney, Stephen Houze.
Am I supposed to already know who these people are?
So. Who are these people?
If you don’t, why are you commenting on the thread?
This family is the one with the kid who supposedly disappeared from the elementary school science fair in the Seattle area.
Well, Silverback, commenting would help clear up just who the heck these people are. Because you did not say.
And Mojito did that. Although it still doesn’t ring a bell.
Make that vice versa and the heck with it.
Sorry, Silverback.
No sweat.
It was not in Seattle...it as in the Portland (OR) area.
From the very start, I suspected the step mother.
TMI
There was a reference to step-mon calling in a doctor’s appt. for Kyron for June 4th (premeditation). She backtracked and told the teacher that she had made a mistake and it was June 11th. A check of the doctor’s appointment calendar would solve that dispute.
Also - there was a report that Kyron’s bio mother had to leave him only 3 days after his birth to receive medical care in Canada; which is when her *friend* stepped in to take care of Kyron and Kaine.
There was also a report that Terri’s own 16 year-old son had complained about Kaine Horman, his step-dad - and was sent to live with his bio-dad.
It’s possible that Kyron began to realize the dysfunction in his family. Did he miss, or was he scared of his step-brother? Had he ever threatened to run away from home? Did he just leave school - got lost and presented a target for a child predator.
That cast of *family* characters is so confusing - all those poor little kids probably have no clue who to turn to.
The bigger question is; Are we supposed to care?
Jacob Wetterling!
After all these years!
I check into Nancy Grace at least once a week, just to see the faces of the missing kids — you just never know if you may ever run across one of these poor little children.
Thanks HP - I found a similar article doing research. Also remembered Jon Gosch - one of the first abductions of a young boy (think he may have had a paper route).
These cases are so horrifying. After speculating and becoming obsessed with wanting to see these mysteries solved - I have to remind myself this is REAL LIFE and these are innocent children, not a movie.
kind thoughts.
I hope they clear up this mystery for the family, and for all people who have been concerned about these horrendous disappearances of young kids.
I'll have to check out Websleuths one of these days and find out what the new evidence or the new tip was.
I guess I’m supposed to be interested but the more I read the less interested I am.
