Google is set to begin covering a cost that gay and lesbian employees must pay when their partners receive domestic partner health benefits, according to a report in the New York Times.
The cost is largely to compensate these workers for an extra tax that heterosexual married couples do not pay. The increase will be retroactive to the beginning of the year, the newspaper said.
Google is not the first large company to make up for the extra tax, the Times reported, adding that Googles move could inspire its Silicon Valley competitors to follow suit, as they compete for the same talent.

So can roommates who do not share a bed get the same extra pay to compensate? How about an adult who moves back in with an ill parent? or a beginning employee still living with a parent?
I thought the cry of the GBLTXXX crowd was that they did not want people looking into their bedrooms. Privacy was the reason for overturning the Texas sodomy law....
It’s very tolerant of you and your wife to “cross over” and be with someone of a different gender.
PS I also find “same sex roommate” benefits to be discriminatory when they don’t ALSO provide benefits for unmarried couples shacking up together.
If Same Sex Marriage becomes US law, will the culture look “down” on homosexuals who refuse to get married? Not at all.
Thought I was a cowboy, but found out I’m a lesbian.
How about two old spinster sisters who never marry? Can one claim the other as a “sibling dependent” for medical purposes?
There are plenty of situations at home. The homosexual crowd thinks they are “special”.
When did it become cool to be gay?
It’s one thing to be tolerant and respectful of other people who are different, but something else when all the “gay” issues are in our faces constantly.
Don’t you just love it when the MSM celebrates the latest celebrity who comes out of the closet? Kelly McGillis and Meredith Baxter come to mind. I think one of those said she had it with men, so wanted to be lesbian. Which contradicts what we’re constantly told, that homosexuality is inborn and not anyone’s choice, but, to those pushing liberal causes, intellectual honesty doesn’t matter.
BINGO!
Sounds like a great opportunity for married straight couples where one has an adrogynous name like chris, or leslie, or Rene to claim additional benefits.
There are plenty of situations at home.

Exactly. When this concept of same-sex entitlements first came up in Vancouver, BC, the Archbishop made the same argument about many family situations, and was accused of using “hate” speech.
Well.. I’m a woman trapped in a man’s body.. I just happen to also be a lesbian, so it all works out. Where’s my raise?
I have not GOOGLED in several years. I’ve been using other sources, and currently BING it.
That's an "I'll stick anything anywhere" type. Yuck!
True, but more understandable than just turning queer for no apparent reason.
She needs counselling.
Same as when battered wives/girlfriends because lesbians only to realize that women (butch or otherwise) can be physically abusive too.
Typically the master does receive greater privileges and profits than do those in the lower ranks.
And...what about single people?
I’m Brian and so’s my wife.
**When did it become cool to be gay?**
It became “cool” when the paid gay activists set up a scheme years ago to be so “in your face” that you start to accept a gay lifestyle as normal and slowly become acclimated to it. It is such a stinking OBVIOUS ploy but unfortunately for a lot of Americans it’s working. They are so consistently talked about, written about, etc., that it would seem that the majority of Americans are gay. Actually it’s more like 1% — a very unhealthy, abnormal, but very loud 1%. On the other hand, the ploy is not working on God, and it’s not working on millions of Americans who believe God’s Word and in family values and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.
