I’m guessing it was out of loyalty.

Yep, Sarah Palin did that too, and she ain't no RINO as far as I can tell.

That forever tarnished their image. Americans voted for transparency. RINO identification is in full transparency.

The Review has ALWAYS supported leftist-big-government RINOs. It has consistently failed to support closing the borders, more limited government, etc. Out of touch NE RINOS

Rich Lowry is a miserable failure — he’s despised by both Conservatives and Liberals alike — he’s a moderate in the squishy middle.

I think Rich Lowry’s biggest fans are outside the borders of the USA, in Communist China. What a fool this guy is.

Shrug. I gave up NR for Human Events many years ago. Online for NR is not that good, or it least it wasn’t 2 or 3 years ago when I stopped looking at it. I get the impression they are RINO or miseducated Yale kiddies with a little too much northeast liberal in them. Yale isn’t what it used to be . . . the profs are standard useless libs now anyway.

NR in the mid to late 1980’s was almost the sole voice calling out for an end to illegals and open immigration. It was conservative until recently.

Did Bill Buckley still have some say as to what gets published when you gave up on NR ?

His son -- Christopher turned out to be a huge disappointment ( one of the few "conservatives" who actually cheered Obama on ).

I guessing it was out of corporate pressure and the desire to keep the flow of cheap, exploitable labor from the Third World.

I don’t know when Bill Buckley really stopped influencing content. I read NR all my life; read God and Man at Yale when I was young. I just stopped enjoying the magazine enough to take my time. FR is better :).

It's sad that National Review has fallen so far.

When I was in high school (late 70’s) there was a large public library right across the street from school. A couple of times a week I would go in and read from a personal reading list of magazines, one of which was NR. Though I frequently found the articles a little dry they were still a formative part of my conservatism.

This was a magazine that was endlessly supportive of President Reagan. William F. Buckley and Reagan had a very long friendship and corresponded for decades. It's truly sad that what was once a great magazine and repository of conservative thought is now inconsequential.

This perfectly-researched and well-written article should get the Pulitzer Prize for journalism this year. I loved the witty almost-hidden barbs at NR here and there.

Cancel your subscription immediately. It can always be renewed later if editorial management either changes its ways or it is pink-slipped altogether. Vote with your wallet and let the publishers know why.......or your strategery is useless.

Why feed the hand that bites you?

Note that this article was PUBLISHED BY --- THE NATIONAL REVIEW.

A good reason to maintain your subscription. Why ? Because they actually allow dissenting viewpoints. Even if they are critical of their Editors.

Yes, it is tragic that a once Conservative and well written publication has turned Judas.

John McCain, the “I’d rather vote for a bucket of rotting crayfish than him” candidate.

It’s like with Congressmen. We work hard and elect our guys. They get to Washington and they aren’t our guys any more. What good is it in the long run to “turn the rascals out” when they all transform into Rascals shortly after they have replaced the previous rascals?
