I had the exact same experience, and it wasn’t even a belief, just a couple of articles I dug up that asserted old tapped oil wells were inexplicably producing again after 40 years or so. God help us, everyone.

The Earth produces a lot of stuff, oil included.

It just doesn’t do it out here in the open where you can watch. (And therefore the process doesn’t really exist.)

Abiotic oil is also terribly inconvenient for several economic and political agendas. (And therefore the process doesn’t realy exist.)

God help us, everyone.

Yep We could use His help about now.

This is the ultimate disaster movie nonsense applied to 'the unstoppable spill', (which was under control before some nitwit displaced the riser with seawater).

Of course, if the oil well somehow tapped into a "migration channel" from the core of the planet, the supply of "unstoppable oil" is suddenly inexhaustible as well.

It's a disaster freak/panic monger's wet dream.

Get a grip, please.
