BROOKLINE (WBZ) Olympic gold medalist Jenny Thompson was attacked in Brookline on Monday.
Thompson, who won 12 medals in swimming in four Olympics, was riding her Vespa scooter just before 10 p.m. when she was approached by a car.
According to a police report, "two dark-skinned black males, approximately 5'7"" got out of the car and approached Thompson. "I didn't register what was going on and I said 'Your lights are out.' And the guy was like , 'What about your lights?' and proceeded to punch me in the face
then pushed me down and tried to take my scooter," explained Thompson. "I fought them off and was screaming at the top of my lungs and people came out of the houses."

Amish thugs invade Boston...
Two words - Pack Heat!
Tanned Amish thugs...
Of course, carrying self-protection increases your options substantially.
Yea, she’s lucky they did not rape and kill her!
Vespa scooter?
Asking for it.....
Street Smarts 101:
In an urban setting, there is no legitimate reason for two diverse males to exit a vehicle and approach a non-diverse female, unless the diverse males are clearly identified as police officers. In other words, lady, JAM THE ACCELERATOR AND PEEL THE F**K OUT OF THERE.
Thus endeth the lesson.
What the heck did she expect in Boston?
ths is so true... who cares how it looks... a couple of years ago i was staying at a hotel in Reno... i got into the elevator to go down to the lobby alone... just as the elevator doors were about to close, two men stepped in... and i don't know why, but something in my gut said, "get out..." at the last second, as the doors were about to shut, i stepped out... i felt stupid, but so what...
“unless the diverse males are clearly identified as police officers.”
In Boston, even if they are...
Later that night, police arrested three teens who were riding around on stolen scooters.
I will re-enforce this message yet again to my daughter who is a college swimmer and will be in Boston this summer!
Later that night, police arrested three teens who were riding around on stolen scooters.
It's not clear yet if they were involved in the attack on Thompson.
She wants to feel empowered and "in control" but that doesn't make it any the less dangerous to ride a scooter through the slum at night.
It's not stupid. It's better safe than very, very sorry, or dead.
Pay attention to your surroundings and if something seems "not right" even if you're not sure what it is, get OUT of there.
By the sound of the situation, I think this rule is not limited to ‘diverse’ people. Even one male of ablino or Anglo Saxon decent should not approach me like that at 10:00pm and expect me to stay there to chat - I don’t know him he should stay back and stay out of my way.
Riding around on a Vespa just asking for trouble..
Maybe she was a Kagan type trolling for a date?
Personally, I wish she’d have gunned the sumbitches down in the street.
But that’s me.
“i felt stupid, but so what...”
You were smart. Never feel stupid about making the right call.
On the whole, Brookline is a nice place. It's a town that borders Boston and is rather upscale. But that doesn't really matter. A slum or a "nice place", with men approaching you at 10 PM, you should know enough to get moving. Especially if they're black.
