After a rash of deadly pit bull attacks throughout the Inland Empire, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved a measure Tuesday requiring all pit bull owners to spay or neuter their animals or face fines.
In the last five years, pit bull attacks have killed four people in the county, including a 2-year-old San Bernardino boy who was mauled in May by one of the family's two pit bulls named Taliban and a 3-year-old Apple Valley boy who died after a similar attack in January.
"It's an imminent issue that we felt had to be addressed because of the recent attacks,' " Supervisor Neil Derry said.

How do they determine the dog is a pit bull?
Shooting would be more effective than neutering.

Apparently, if it attacks you with its' genitals, it's a pit bull.
Last time I checked into the matter, neutering didn’t actually mean teeth removal. That would be more in the line of “disarmament”.
I think attacking with teeth would be a lot more painful. BTW I was bitten by a nasty little poodle last weekend. And no, he wasn’t neutered. I should have done it myself, on the spot.
Secret Service woulda been all over ya.

While they’re at it, they should spay or neuter the owners who don’t train and restrain their dogs properly.

Haha. Tell that to a guy with no nuts. (”Barack ... someone to see you.”) Betcha he feels disarmed.
For what its worth ... I’m kidding. I think pit bull ownership should be treated (legally speaking) like bengal tiger ownership. Heavily licensed and/or only in zoos.

I’m all in favor of this...stop breeding pits and all breeds..enough animals in the world right now with no one to care for them. That’s all I’m saying. I will not respond to or get my feathers ruffled by anyone feeling differently about this. Just making a comment about what I feel passionately about. Trying to change hearts and minds one step at a time. End of story.

Blood-scented breath?

LOL, now that you mention it, he did look a little like....well, never mind.
Agree.
If so, that little poodle is a pit! :)
I also support requiring domestic animals to be fixed (at the state and local levels).
Breeding should be limited to specific registered enthusiast organizations.
I’m sure some will consider that “anti-liberty”, but I don’t, because I don’t consider domestic animals to be a commodity.
AlGore would, no doubt, be categorically against the forcible neutering of poodles. AlGore’s masseuses, however ...
SnakeDoc
Just out of curiousity, why don’t you consider domestic animals a commodity (like farm animals, transport animals, zoo animals, etc.)? I fail to see the distinction.
Animals are a commodity like any other. Unless there is a good reason to restrict sales/ownership/breeding (such as dangerous bear-dogs like the pit bull), let it be.
