Future of Financial Regulation Bill Grows Murky
Fox ^ | June 29, 2010 | Chad Pergram

What if you pulled an all-nighter in college, only to have the professor tell you your work wasn’t good enough and demand a re-write of your paper?

That could be the fate of the House and Senate on a massive financial regulation bill to restructure the banking and lending industries.

Conferees from the House and Senate met for the past three weeks trying to reconcile differences in a financial regulatory bill approved by both chambers. A conference committee is where lawmakers meet to forge a final measure before it goes to the president. The conferees met all day last Thursday, finally finishing the meeting at 5:39 Friday morning.

But, when lawmakers turned in their assignment, the prof handed it back with the Congressional equivalent of “Please see me” scribbled across the top in red ink.

The problem is finding the votes to pass the final bill.

“I think there is a lot of doubt in the Senate,” said House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA).

Hopefully, the future of this rancid bolus becomes murkier still. A pox upon this wretched pile of sputum.

If they vote for this monstrosity in the House tomorrow that means they’ve got the votes in the Senate because they’ve said they won’t do one without the other.

The best thing that could happen would be for this legislation to sink like stone.

I LOVE SCOTT BROWN.

He is a Republican who is NOT kissing Globalist Australian’s Rupert Murdoch’s Fox New’s ass.

He is focused on getting re-elected as a Republican in Massachusetts which is no easy task.

But he knows the issues. National defense is first. No new taxes is second.

Don’t get lost posturing on the social issues such as abortion and gay marriage, which are not national security issues. Foreign policy and now the terrible state of the economy are the issues which put our national security in jeopardy.

The beauty of Brown is that he looks like an adult to compared to the ass clowns like Mitch McConnell, he agreed to the onerous financial regulations and looked bi-partisan. But the Democrats CANNOT help themselves and are given to making policy late at night behind closed doors, which is the only way to impose BILLIONS in new taxes.

Scott Brown WINS big time.

He can claim that he was bi-partisan and he PROVED that it was the Democrats who are not.

He called the Democrats bluff and won.

Yes, it's going to be very interesting to see if the House puts this up for a vote tomorrow.

I suspect there are some liberal House members who are having to be cajoled as we speak.

If this bill crashes I may be willing to say Scott Brown is crazy like a fox for voting FOR the first draft of this bill. It could be that it put the Dems off the scent.

However, I will hold any praise for Brown till we see what happens.

He called the Democrats bluff and won.

And we lost. This will be considered a huge Obama/democrat party victory by the media. In fact I don't think the NY Times or any or them really care what's in the bill as much as they want something positive to write and talk about that they think might help increase their votes in November. All the people get out of it is greater federal control over our economy.

The GOP should have killed it when they had the chance just as they should do with the energy bill, which they probably won't.

Brown cannot crash the bill on his own.

The Republican dolt from Iowa, Grassely will have to take his lead.

That and the fact that replacing Bobby Byrd will take some time.

I think the bill dies if Grassely mans up, that and the fact that God called Bobby Byrd home to burn in hell with all the other KKK slime.

Brown cannot crash the bill on his own.

Depends on if there's enough angst caused by this in the House.

Some pet projects will likely be derailed there since Brown is insisting this gets paid for by something other than a tax on the banks.
