An admission from Markos Moulitsas, proprietor of the Daily Kos web empire:
I have just published a report by three statistics wizards showing, quite convincingly, that the weekly Research 2000 State of the Nation poll we ran the past year and a half was likely bunk.
Later, he writes, "While the investigation didn't look at all of Research 2000 polling conducted for us, fact is I no longer have any confidence in any of it, and neither should anyone else. I ask that all poll tracking sites remove any Research 2000 polls commissioned by us from their databases. I hereby renounce any post we've written based exclusively on Research 2000 polling."
The "wizards" he cites conclude that "people who have been trusting the R2K reports should know about these extreme anomalies. We do not know exactly how the weekly R2K results were created, but we are confident they could not accurately describe random polls."
R2K's proprietor, Del Ali, responded to TPM by saying he was contacting his lawyer and adding, "I will tell you unequivocally that we conducted EVERY poll properly for the Daily Kos."
Kos says he'll be suing Ali.
This will get ugly...

"Let's you and him fight!"

popcorn
Like shaking a bug jar to watch the bugs fight.
I love it.
Not to worry, Markos. Your polls say that the Kenyan is widely popular. Oh, they also say that Greece is the financial envy of the world.
LOL! Are they talking about the polls that make Zero look bad?
I take it they didn’t like the answers?
Down the memory hole!
I Hope Kos’ Book Hasn’t Gone to the Printer [Jonah Goldberg]
A friend points out that Research 2000 was behind the “Republicans are crazy wingnuts” poll of not too long ago. Here’s Markos writing about it:
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m putting the finishing touches on my new book, American Taliban, which catalogues the ways in which modern-day conservatives share the same agenda as radical Jihadists in the Islamic world. But I found myself making certain claims about Republicans that I didn’t know if they could be backed up. So I thought, “why don’t we ask them directly?” And so, this massive poll, by non-partisan independent pollster Research 2000 of over 2,000 self-identified Republicans, was born.
The results are nothing short of startling.
It’s a long poll, so the results are summarized below the fold. For a direct link to the poll’s crosstabs, click here.
Ultimately, these results explain why it is impossible for elected Republicans to work with Democrats to improve our country. Their base are conspiracy mongers who don’t believe Obama was born in the United States, that he is the second coming of Lenin, and that he is racist against white people. They already want to impeach him despite the glaringly obvious lack of high crimes or misdemeanors. If any Republican strays and decides to do the right thing and try to work in a bipartisan fashion, they suffer primaries and attacks. Even the Maine twins have quit cooperating out of fear of their homegrown teabaggers.
Given what their base demands, and this poll illustrates them perfectly, it’s no wonder the GOP is the party of no.
So will all news agencies that reported these polls now admit they were taken and print or announce a retraction? I am pretty sure that the DNC liked everyone of these polls.
Whoops, Mr. Kos, your fake but accurate polls are still showing on your website....
Looks to me that the TEA Party should sue both Marxos and the pollster.
I used to have a graphic over the caption “Polls are for strippers.” but I got in trouble for using it on Sunday morning.
Does anyone know if these polls were averaged in on the RealClearPolitics site?
A purse swinging death match?
Does Nate Silver rely on those polls for his statistical predictions? Because that would negate his numbers, as well.
Bush’s fault.
Did Research 2000 also rig the Twin Towers to explode as the hijacked planes approached?
