Arizona Sen. John McCains re-election campaign has gained an important endorsement from an influential conservative publication, National Review.
This magazine has not always agreed with Sen. John McCains judgments, the endorsement on National Reviews website notes. But there are three considerations that militate against dumping McCain for his primary challenger, former congressman J.D. Hayworth.
The first is that McCain has consistently voted on the conservative side on important issues he has never supported a broad-based tax hike, voted for every conservative Supreme Court nominee, and has a long pro-life record.
Second, McCain has unmatched credibility on national security and demonstrated his leadership by encouraging the surge of American forces in Iraq.
Third, McCain has a better record than Hayworth on controlling federal spending. Hayworth in fact appeared in infomercials telling people how to get free money from the government, according to National Review, which concludes:

If I was in AZ and wanting Hayworth to defeat McCain, I’d be talking up Hayworth’s strengths to everyone I meet. What I wouldn’t be doing is run around yelling “McCain sucks” without offering an alternative, which is basically what goes on around here. Again, I see very little talk about Hayworth. That is my beef. It seems people don’t want to win, they only want to bitch.
La Raza troll alert!
Please take me off your open borders, anti-Arizona, pro McCain, anti-SB1070 ping list.
Thanks, I’ll check it out!
Yeah whatever.
Why don’t I give you helpful advice, too, like quit stripping the gears on the truck, and for God’s sake use the handbrake, willya? And knock off the GD double parking. One of you jerks locked me into a spot for 10 minutes the other day, and it was 115 degrees in the shade....

I hope I am, too, but I claim no knowledge of the voters of Arizona. I've mentioned their seeming bipolar condition several times: red in recent presidential elections, elected Napolitano twice, elect Sheriff Joe over and over, elect pro-amnesty, anti-enforcement McCain over and over, strong support for the new immigration law, strong polling for Governor Brewer, etc.
But, whatever, there are two debates for July 16 and 17, and the TV and radio campaign wars should be a two way war the final six or so weeks until August 24, so that's when it should be decided and there is plenty of ammunition to use against McCain.
That's more than enough on this subject for tonight.
What?! William F. Buckley dies and NR goes to pot in less than 2 YEARS?!
That’s REALLY quite pathetic....Just sad...
Yeah, me too....
I don’t know what your problem is with what I had to say.
For eight years, all the left offered was Bush sucks and I hate Bush. Now I see the same thing happening here. All I was asking is that people talk up Hayworth, if defeating McCain really is the goal.
This is FR. The discussions that occur outside of FR are not “bitch, bitch, bitch.” Here in AZ we talk up JD all the time, not tear down McCain. I don’t discuss JD vs McCain the same way to “outsiders.”
I don’t know if I can get clearer. If you only see what I say on FR, you’re not getting a full picture of how I work with people in general.
Sorry if I got personal. I always get rubbed the wrong way on McCain threads, and I took it out on you.
Bill would not have endorsed McCain after repeatedly stabbing conservatives in the back.
Again.
And Again.
