Of course he is planning on new ordinances. Handgun ownership won’t be outlawed, but he will make conditions for ownership so troublesome and so expensive that few will bother.
The problem being in the MacDonald decision the court left open the legality of 'reasonable restrictions' on firearm ownership without defining what those reasonable restrictions were. Count on Daley and his allies to test the limits on that as soon as possible. This could be working its way through the courts again and again for decades.
If they want to make it difficult to have a gun in Chicago, Daley and the police force should be the first to disarm.
That would be ‘sure fire’ way of getting guns off the street, right?
Who could object to that?
