As expected, Mayor Daley and Chicago's City Council are circling the wagons to defend against an unfavorable decision by the Supreme Court concerning the city's gun ban.
Daley said the city would have in place a new ordinance aimed at making it difficult to purchase and own a gun in Chicago.
"We'll publicly propose a new ordinance very soon," Daley said at an afternoon press conference concerning the gun ban.
"As a city we must continue to stand up ..and fight for a ban on assault weapons .. as well as a crackdown on gun shops," Daley said. "We are a country of laws not a nation of guns."

Isn’t the murder rate in Chicago one of the highest in the country?
Isn’t the murder rate in Chicago one of the highest in the country?
We need to find people in Chicago to move that forward.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
There's another little detail in Illinois state law that might also be of interest:
(720 ILCS 5/33‑3)
(from Ch. 38, par. 33‑3) Sec. 33‑3. Official Misconduct.)
A public officer or employee or special government agent commits misconduct when, in his official capacity or capacity as a special government agent, he commits any of the following acts:
(a) Intentionally or recklessly fails to perform any mandatory duty as required by law; or
(b) Knowingly performs an act which he knows he is forbidden by law to perform; or
(c) With intent to obtain a personal advantage for himself or another, he performs an act in excess of his lawful authority; or
(d) Solicits or knowingly accepts for the performance of any act a fee or reward which he knows is not authorized by law. <>br>
A public officer or employee or special government agent convicted of violating any provision of this Section forfeits his office or employment or position as a special government agent. In addition, he commits a Class 3 felony. For purposes of this Section, "special government agent" has the meaning ascribed to it in subsection (l) of Section 4A‑101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. <>br>(Source: P.A. 94‑338, eff. 1‑1‑06.)
Yep.
‘Daley said the city would have in place a new ordinance aimed at making it difficult to purchase and own a gun in Chicago.’
Clearly, Daley is the very dictionary definition of ‘demagogue.’
>>Isnt the murder rate in Chicago one of the highest in the country?<<
More people die on the streets of Chicago by gunfire than die in combat in Afghanistan!
Yes, but he keeps getting elected. There must be a moron factory in Chicago that turns out people who vote for him and that human cockroach Quigley. In fact there have to be moron factories in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Wash DC, etc. That is the only explanation as to how these chunks of excrement get elected.
Where the hell is “Henry Bowman” of Chicago?! I thought there would be a Henry Bowman in every county in America to take out the trash.
Hopefully you and your remarks will go to Zotland.
Freepers will toss Henry Bowman under the bus.
Just wait and see.
Right, those same individuals who are now buying illegal guns disregarding the restrictive laws on the books will realize that registering their illegal guns will facilitate the police tracking their ownership of those same guns. I don’t think they will pay attention to the registration requirements either. JMHO!
So then, the question becomes: Why does Mayor Daley and his party, and citizens who support and vote for him want more people dying in the streets of Chicago by gunfire than in combat in Afgjhanistan?
I don’t know, but I do know that Chicago was on the precipice of complete failure, Dumbass Daley is as conservative as Chicago will get. But I think the cracks are showing in his criminal enterprise as with all the Blue State mega cities.
“Of course, many will be against this, but on the other hand we need to ask ourselves if we want the police to be able to track the path of guns used in crimes, which is what registration facilitates.”
Wrong answer. Most guns used in crimes were obtained on the black market. There is no path to track, other than that “X” gun was stolen.
If they want to make it difficult to have a gun in Chicago, Daley and the police force should be the first to disarm.
That would be ‘sure fire’ way of getting guns off the street, right?
Who could object to that?
“One thing that will apparently be legal to do, may be to require registration of the guns we are allowed to have in our homes. Of course, many will be against this, but on the other hand we need to ask ourselves if we want the police to be able to track the path of guns used in crimes, which is what registration facilitates.”
It does not facilitate tracking guns used in crimes at all, registration is just a precursor to confiscation as it makes it easier for the government to track down the owners of guns once they decide to ban them. Worked in Germany just before WWII real well, just ask any Jew that happened to survive how well it worked.
If Da Mayor has any balls to be consistent with his position, he could at least address that retired cops shouldn’t be allowed weapons. A few weeks ago a retired cop shot and killed two of three thugs who attacked and killed the retired cops son. The scum were stealing the son’s motorcycle. The son was also a Chicago cop, and had served in Iraq. Let No-Balls Richie explain why the retired cop shouldn’t have the right to a hand gun, or at the very least, explain to the rest of us why retired cop lives are more valuable and worth protecting.
