The Case for Mike Castle
Redstate ^ | 06/28/2010 | Bryan McCarthy

There is a case for Republicans in Delaware to support career liberal politician Mike Castle in the upcoming Republican senate primary. It is a weak and cynical case, and it denies the political realities of 2010. But nevertheless, there is a case. What, you might ask, could induce a conservative who believes in The First Amendment to vote for a politician who co-sponsored the recently passed “Disclose Act,” an act designed to stifle free speech and gag opposition to establishment politicians? What would cause a Second Amendment supporter to vote for a politician who has earned an F- grade from The NRA? And how could an advocate for life pull the lever for a pro-abortion candidate? There must be a compelling reason for “free enterprise believing” Republicans to be asked to support a man who supported TARP, “Cash for Clunkers,” “Cap and Trade” and the auto industry and bank takeovers. Those who oppose socialized medicine would need to have a strong motivation to support a candidate opposed to the repeal of Obama-care. What is the case for Castle? It comes down to this. Castle campaign workers and old guard GOP operatives, supported by corporate money, are parroting a single talking point. It is that Mike Castle can supposedly win, giving the Republicans a senate pickup, and his opponent, Christine O’Donnell, supposedly cannot.

Besides the fact that this argument is cynical if not immoral, it is patently fallacious.....

In addition to being a RINO, Castle is a certifiable mongoloid idiot.

Oh, and believe it or not, he’s a lineal descendent of Benjamin Franklin.

Is that from Ben's son, the last colonial governor of NJ, that had to leave during the revolution?

According to one website, “The Franklin lineage is traced back through Sarah Franklin Bache, who was Ben Franklin’s daughter.” I give it to you for what I paid for it.

Mike Castle, if elected, would serve the remainder of Joe Biden’t term and then retire in 2014, when he’ll be 75 y/o. He was leaning towards retirement, but agreed to run so that Obama wouldn’t have a rubber-stamp Senate. It’s not like he’d be a strong opponent of conservatives, but merely a way to pad Republican numbers for the time being. We can find someone more conservative by 2014, and it’s very unlikely that he’ll seek a full term.

“earned an F- grade from The NRA”

Why not run as a dem-o-rat? Does the RNC support this POS?

Mike Castle is a paramount example of the fallacy of political "Party." He gets money, a lot of it, from the Republican Party.

Now if we are honest with ourselves as conservatives, fully understanding what that means - dismantling centralized government control so that individuals are once again responsible for their own decisions and actions, while forcing any government activity down to the lowest possible scrutinized jurisdiction, individual, family, community, State, - could any one of us faithfully vote for Mike Castle, the Professional Politician?

Whether or not they admit it to themselves, or to us, Professional Politicians, predominantly lawyers, are in it to deceive us; to speak half truths, to spin their agenda's for cultivating votes, and tragically to not only think they really do know what's good for us, but willing to force that on us through police power. How obvious is it?

Mike Castle, is all of this. Not necessarily an evil individual, but through position and complacency an arrogant one. Acquired arrogance.

In NO way do I expect the people of Delaware to replace Mike Castle; I know them, they are far too selfish, cowardly, and feckless. But there is absolutely NO better example of the tragedy that is facing America than the re-election of just another Professional Politician who has accrued such arrogance that he becomes just another puppet Yes-Man of the Oligarchy.

Castle just disgraced himself by voting for the DISCLOSE anti-free speech campaign finance law.

Yes! September, 14. Please email every conservative Republican that you know in DE and tell them to mark that date on the calendar. There is a small turnout expected. Delaware is a small state. All it will take is a committed core of patriots to actually get to the polls that day and Castle is toast. An application for an absentee ballot can be found here:

DE

If you know any conservative college kids here, make sure that they vote absentee if they are away at school.

Remember, Franklin disowned his own son because he was a traitor to the cause of liberty. I wonder what he would think of this slimy POS.

Actually, if you know DE politics, you would find it much more credible that he agreed to hold this seat until the political climate is more favorable for Biden’s son, the current DE AG. Joe and Mike are good friends, both old boy Delaware career politicians. That is the way it works here. His career must end on September, 14.

Unofficially, they are throwing the full weight of their corrupt fat old asses behind this old boy socialist. If you can help please send her a few bucks. De is a small state and by the nature of her campaign, she does not need much money in order to counter Mike Castle's 2 million dirty dollars. but she does need some.

I think you are mistaken. An incredibly small number of votes are needed to win a primary in this state. Castle's TV buys will mean nothing. They won't motivate the average Republican (the only ones who can vote) to actually get to the polls on September, 14. But believe me, pissed off Republicans will be there. Help her if you can. I am watching this unfold and I really believe she can kick his butt.

I know nothing about Christine except what I learned from this post, which is that she is wildly not guilty.

Good enough for me.
