A white Ford pickup with Arizona plates is driving north on U.S. 191 headed for the Utah border. Afraid of encountering police, the family inside is traveling at night. The pickup's headlights cut through a sea of darkness.
The family is in a hurry to get out of Arizona, to get away from the state's harsh new immigration law.
The pickup crosses into Utah at 11:59 p.m. Luis Sanchez breathes a sigh of relief as his wife, Marlen Ramirez, keeps driving. Both are undocumented immigrants from Mexico.
"Look," he says. "We are here. We have arrived in Utah."

Boo freakin’ hoo. He makes more than I do or rather did because of certain circumstances I will probably quit. My vehicle is nearly as old as his neighbor’s but unlike him, I can’t afford needed repairs. Yet for some reason my taxes are paying for his crimes. He’s mailed their belongings to an established address and the reporter has documented (if it’s not all bs) their journey but, as usual, ICE is nowhere to be found.
We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border and SHOOT anyone who tries to re-enter illegally.
Effective, yes; noncontroversial, no. Wrecks the quality of sanctuary, you know. Harms the children, some of whom are birthright citizens. Etc, etc.
I live in Pa and just sent this story to my state senator and congressman telling them we need a law NOW in Pa like the one they have in AZ.
That would be ILLEGAL immigrant! Undocumented = Illegal. What is it about this concept that these morons don't get? Oh, never mind - illegal sounds bad, and we might not get all teary-eyed over these journalistic garbage bits.
Wait until they turn 65, and the libs all decide that they need social security—you don’t because you have a 401K plan. So they give them monthly checks, and you live off your savings.
And they’ll be doing better than a lot of us with 401Ks!
Here they come. Now the rest of the states have to find some backbone somewhere.
SHHHHHH! Don’t tell them that federal law is tougher! *eyeroll* I have no sympathy for people who break the law to get here then demand they get to crowd into line ahead of others waiting years to get in legally.
LOL touche’ You are right. I -70 drops much farther south than Iowa.
8.7% as of April ‘10. Don’t come to Ohio you can’t register a car if you are illegal.
Are we really to believe the vehicle's occupants were conducting their conversation in English?
He makes under 10/hr. She doesn’t work. They have 3 kids. How much do you think it costs the taxpayers of Arizona and the United States to support them? At least Arizona is rid of them. Unfortunately, they didn’t go back to Mexico. They just changed from one teat to another.
If this story was correct the reporter would know that I-70 doesn’t go through Iowa. It goes through Kansas City here in Missouri then it heads east, going through Columbia, Missouri, which is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours south of Iowa. It goes all the way over through STL into Illinois and ay no time does it cross into Iowa. So I think I’m calling B.S. on that.
Arizona...doing the jobs no Federalized American wants to do...
Ping!
Hasta La Bye-bye, amigos.
bump-a-roni
Let them come to Sanctuary City Chicago. Instant social benefits. And when they rob, murder, and maim, the cops promise not to inform federal immigration authorities. And the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times and all local radio and TV stations will refuse to report the criminals’ immigration status. Like minded as well: the corrupt cabal that is the City Council has voted to boycott Arizona. As if the broke, bankrupt city had any money to spend there.
It’s not a harsh new immigration law. It’s a new law allowing police to verify if someone is complying with existing laws. The people who write this tripe are idiots. It needs to be pointed out.
