NRO, once more.
Squishes.
“these considerations move us to suggest that Arizona Republicans nominate Senator McCain.”
Garbage like this is just further evidence of why National Review has been increasingly irrelevant for several years now.
ELECTION needed for KKK Byrd!!! Thats why dunham had the scary face on drudge!!...[from hot air]
Byrds current term expires on January 3, 2013. Under West Virginia state law on handling Senate vacancies, if the vacancy occurs less than two years and six months before the end of the term, the Governor appoints someone to fill the unexpired term and there is no election. Otherwise, Manchin would appoint an interim replacement, and an special election would be held in November to determine who held the seat in 2011 and 2012.
In other words, we are within a week of the threshold established by West Virginia law. If a vacancy were to be declared on July 3rd or later, there would not be an election to replace Byrd until 2012. If it were to occur earlier, there could potentially be an election later this year, although there might be some ambiguities arising from precisely when and how the vacancy were declared.
What a bunch of cr@p. Vote the turd out and at least get a new fresher smelling turd in.
I’m sure JD has made mistakes, and is not perfect - but he STILL cannot come close to what McCain has done to this country.
Please, I’m begging the good people of Arizona to not let this man win another term. John McCain must go!
TWICE TOO MANY
mccant conceeded the election to barry sotoero cause he new he would lose. He could have been a real fighter and brought up sotoeros real past.
McCain’s weakness and political correctness is why we have a fascist socialist in the White House today.
McCain refused to hit B.O. hard, and that is one BIG reason B.O. is in power, destroying our housing, banking, health care and military institutions.
McCain, for those reasons, needs to go. If he is given another six years, he’ll be an Arlen Specter-like politician.
How the suits at N.R. cannot see this plainly, I’ll never know.
I do think N.R. is a good publication, though...just because they’re wrong on this issue doesn’t mean we toss ‘em out.
The man is DEAD. If WV doesn’t declare a “vacancy”, it will be another case of Democrat travesties.
And the media will yawn.
WINNER!
Another reminder of just why I allowed my subscription to National Review to lapse.
How is a vacancy declared?
The National Review follows the Chamber of Commerce lead on illegal immigration, including amnesty for the 20 million cheap workers. That’s why they see no problems with McCain, just like in 2007.
Bill Buckley is turning over in his grave with what these neo-RINOs are doing to his magazine.
McCain supports amnesty, which will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. He has been bought by corporate interests. He voted for TARP. The National Review represents the GOP establishment. If we are ever going to get this country back, the conservatives must take back the GOP or failling that, form a third party.
” I do think N.R. is a good publication, though...just because theyre wrong on this issue doesnt mean we toss em out.”
I started reading NR cover to cover at age 14 in 1968. NR died when WFB got ill, a year before his death.
This is no small issue, it is a HUGE one. If NR can’t get this right, they are not only useless, they are harmful.
McCain has been in office way too long. The voters need to retire him, NOW.
ANyone who would support McCain, the mastermind whose electoral strategies of not mentioning Barry SOetoro's cauterized social background, put a nationalist socialist in the White House. Why would any conservative vote for a clone of Arlene Spetor, who brought us McCain Feingold, folded to Obama in the artificially created Financial crisis of September 2008,and was part if the gang of 14 that traduced the nuclear option, which we are suffering from now at the hands of the Dems? Even now as Arizonans are murdered in their own back yards by Mexican drug runners,Mccain still has difficulty supporting governor Jan Brewer of his own party? His wife sells too much beer to Mexicans.
Anyone who votes for McCain has less than a full deck, and would not be the sharpest tool in the drawer. This article is nonsense.
And their criticism of JD Hayworth is about as weak as could be. They somehow failed to mention that Juan McCain's senate website contained information on obtaining government grants, and that he voted for biggest collection of earmarks in US history: the bailout bill.
Cronyism over principle, just like a collection of other old establishment Republicans who support Juan, but have claimed to oppose him on major issues.
