I don’t understand the ugly comments about this situation. I’m glad she’s safe, glad she’s on her way home.
She was sent out 8 months ahead of schedule, unprepared, in order to have a shot at the record.
Why? She came from a family of morons who passed on their genes and lavished her with cash and the freedom to continue moronic behavior. What has it cost nations to save her young, liberal ass so far? That’s money out of your pocket, and mine.
I don’t like fools taking money out of my pocket - maybe it’s ok with you, but not me.
I don't either. In the middle ages, children left their parents when they were 5 or 7 and were indentured as trade apprentices. In most countries in this world a 16 year old is considered an adult and treated as such. By the time a child is 16 in many third world countries, they have been working full time for 10 years.
I look at this as an American challenge. Sure she could have been killed, but then giving your car keys to a 16 year old on a Saturday night is probably just as dangerous.
I know a lot of 16 year old kids who were killed or maimed because their parents let them borrow the car on a weekend night. You don't see them in the headlines when they are fished out of their car by the jaws of life.
How many of these nannny stater critics ever let their children use their car on a weekend? I did. I trusted my kids to act like adults when they were 16. I guess maybe I should be jailed?
Most of these folks have loser kids who play video games all day and they, themselves, have never done anything remotely interesting or adventurous. We've really become an Mommy driven, maternalistic society....no risk....keep the babies in the womb mentality. Its a far cry from the mentality that built this great country and is such a shame. To see it here on FR is particularly disheartening. I'm surprised that folks aren't beating the kid up for flying home...with all that risk involved. She should have just stayed where she was rescued for the rest of her life...so much safer....LOL
The problem I think is that for many of them they look at their own children and realize what a failure they have been as parents.
The parents posting on here that are critical of Abby remember when they as kids built forts, took adventurous neighborhoods hikes...and when they got older rode dirt bikes, went camping, took a canoe trip with their parents.
Now, not giving their kids the same time and attention as their parents gave them - as Abby's parents give here - they lash out at a very visible symbol of their failure as parents.
Here kids, I don't have time to take you to the ball game but here is the lastest baseball video game and a bag of potato chips - and arn't that Abby and her parents terrible.
Thanks, I agree with you. I still think she’s a brave girl and deserving of respect. Even if she “failed” or her parents were less than sterling, she herself is still courageous. The ocean is very large, her boat was very small.
