TORONTO — Police raided a university building and rounded up more protesters Sunday in an effort to quell further violence at the global economic summit after black-clad youths rampaged through the city, smashing windows and torching police cruisers.
Police said they have arrested more than 500 demonstrators, many of whom were hauled away in plastic handcuffs and taken to a temporary holding center constructed for the summit.....

They were a group who came from Montréal. You are correct about the residence; most univerisities in Canada rent out their dorms during the summer months.
This is a standard leftist anarchist tactic, parade with opponents and then break out to vandalize and cause mayhem to blame the peaceful right.
The merchants in Toronto should band together and hire private investigators to find out who shelter, equip and support these violent protestors. Then launch lawsuits. Since the University was serving as a shelter, stockpiling point for rocks/etc, and agitation center, they would be a good place to start civil legal procedures against. If the merchants cannot do it, then the insurance companies who must pay out the damages can do it to recover their payouts.
They’ve already done it with the teaparty events.

I saw a few vids, one of them infiltrating the crowd selling t-shirts in Washington. They were spotted and run out.
They carry stuff to sell to obscure sticks, weapons, face masks and such.

I thought all demonstrations were because of W. and his policies.... That is what we were told over and over again.
