This its only 33 wells affected by the moratorium, so its no big deal business is popping up in the wake of the judge lifting President Obamas drilling moratorium, but heres the Louisiana blog Bayou Buzz reporting on whats really going on in the Gulf and the impact on jobs:
The social and economic consequences of President Obamas offshore drilling moratorium are starting to manifest themselves and will rapidly worsen. News spread this week that eight of the 33 deepwater rigs in the Gulf of Mexico had either left or were finalizing their plans to do so. Workers, businesses, lending institutions, and our state and local governments have started making plans for dealing with the economic disaster that is accompanying the ecological one in the Gulf.

Unintended consequences?? I think not!! They are obviously intended to destroy this country.
I’m looking forward to $8.00/gallon gasoline!/s
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
“Unintended consequences??”
It’s really sad when Conservatives give Leftists the benefit of the doubt based on ignorance and naivete with the result of saying things like, “unintended consequences.”
For those conservatives who read this thread and believe that the Left does not have an agenda I would advise you to study who the Left is and what their goals are and what the results will be if they get their way.
But they decided that BP will also have to pay for those impacted by this. Not sure how long BP can support the whole region.
I thought the Court struck down the drilling moratorium.
And the leak keeps on leaking because....... they want it to!
I just read that U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman is receiving death threats because of his ruling to overturn the moratorium. There is an alternate universe at work out there. This anti capitalistic brood that has come out our institutions of learning is doing more damage to this nation’s survival than oil gushing into the Gulf. And the Pied Piper of them is the Guest Professor Zer0 who wants to use every means to justify the ends to usher forth a socialist Utopia.
If they destroy the Gulf oil infrastructure, it will take years to rebuild again. And, when you rebuild, the costs are much higher; and that, combined with oil shortages, will cause even higher fuel prices. Such misguided policy will build inflationary forces that will be disastrous.
Why?
Does anyone think that those specialized deep water rigs and their highly qualified personnel are going to sit idle in the GoM for six months on the hope that the moratorium will be lifted? Now where o where could they go to drill in deep water?
It did but Barry0 plans to fight that in court and Sec. Salazar has said he will come up with a modified moratorium in the meantime. Even if the courts keep slapping down moratorium after moratorium the unpredictability of it all will convince the oil companies to move to greener pastures.
It's the same thing 0baMao and the Dem Congress has done to the economy in general. Confidence in the markets has been undermined to the point that no one is willing to take any risks in the markets.
They need the oil price increase so they can blame the oil companies for the huge increses in energy costs when they inplement cap and trade and make trillionaires out of their buddies holding the paper at the Chicago Carbon Exchange. All costs will be passed on to the consumer, and blamed on ‘big oil’.
The gangsta prez is an idiot who thinks the right thing is whatever is bad for America. He’s in a win/win situation. If he accidentally does something that is good for America, the leftnuts praise him, and when he does something bad for America, he finds it gratifying.
This is exactly what I’m afraid of - even if we throw the bums out this time, we’ll always be one election away from far-left rule again. Businesses know this, and they aren’t about to invest 9-figure sums in long-term drilling operations if progress can be halted at a politician’s whim.
It is possible that the only way to save this country is to reform the rules for voter eligibility. Maybe the Founders were on to something.
I don’t think businesses can even wait until the 2012 election for a change for the better. Especially these Gulf drilling companies. Those rigs cost something like a half a million per day even if they aren’t doing anything.

Yes, unfortunately, I think you are right and that alone spells disaster for the future of this country. I am very depressed about the ability of the private sector to overcome this kind of hard left leadership and Congress.
Digging my fallout shelter...heh.
Where oh where is the SPINELESS, "De-nutted," Republican Leadership--within and outside of Congress???
WHY are they not holding regular Pressers (someone would show up) or SCREAMING for Congressional hearings on what is obviously, an INTENTIONAL effort to allow the spill to continue fouling the shores of the Gulf States, for crass political purposes.
Has anyone heard even a Peep from Steele?
Where is the gutless, useless, RNC's ads taking Dear Leader and the Demo-Rats to task over this Criminal act?
What better opportunity than to strike while the iron is hot and do what the RATS are masters at, use their own type tactics against them.
I am so disgusted with the Republican party and would not contribute a dime if someone was holding a gun to my head.
It's almost like they have no interest in winning come November, when passing up a golden opportunity to stick it to the Community Agitator and his Commie Appointments in all the Agencies involved.
they are headed to Brazil and George Soros
