White House Preparing National Online ID Plan
The proposed system for authenticating people, organizations and infrastructure on the web at the transactional level will require an identity ecosystem.

The Obama administration is set to propose a new system for authenticating people, organizations and infrastructure on the Web. The online authentication and identity management system would be targeted at the transactional level -- for example, when someone logs into their banking website or completes an online e-commerce purchase.
Making such a system effective, however, will require creating an "identity ecosystem," backed by extensive public/private cooperation, said White House cybersecurity coordinator Howard Schmidt, delivering the opening keynote speech at the Symantec Government Symposium 2010 in Washington on Tuesday...... .....Simply issuing a Web-friendly biometric identification card to everyone in the country, of course, wouldn't necessarily make anyone or anything more secure, including online transactions.

How about he step up to be the first to be authenticated? Free the BC!
Birth Certificate. Exactly. Good point.

You have no right to interfere or interject yourself into my personal affairs.
I already have passwords that unique and strong encrypted.
You are an utter failure at secure the border, Social Security and any number of other things I can think of.
It is none of your business who I do transact with on the web or anywhere else.
I may just convert to all cash for my transactions.
Remember a few months ago when the WH was having some construction done and they were having to dig in underneath but they weren't saying what it was for? I said then that it had something to do with bringing in more cyber sleuthing.
More Big Brother activity from the Zero admin. I predict in ten years the chip will be available. It will be optional, but those who refuse it will be at a disadvantage.

He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark...
Can these people even function without having to have full control? This is the most narcissistic, self serving administration in history. I doubt they last out their first 4 years, let alone get re-elected.
Obama, we might have a half-ounce of respect for you if you would just show us your actual birth certificate, and explain why you have a Social Security number that had been previously issued to a dead person from Connecticut.
My thoughts exactly. Right on schedule.
I get their online mag as well as the mail version, they’re credible as far as I can tell.
I wonder ... how will this affect ILLEGALS?
Will our social security numbers go by the wayside in place of THIS?

THAT is what we are working up to!

It's a more INTRUSIVE private identify breach.
It will not be more “secure” or “safer”.
It will intrude on your UNIQUE identity through finger prints, retina scans or something else that makes you a unique human being. Forgeries will still be possible. There will always be a way to get around it but most people will not have the ability, intelligence or resources to be successful in getting around a fraudentlent identity. So in that sense, GOVERNMENT will CONTROL YOU MORE.
if one is not “eco-friendly”
then one might be banned or stoned.
You're not the only one. My next wonder is when cash will be declared too expensive, or unnecessary or whatever else so using our National ID is the only way.
