McChrystal (and possibly allies) voted for Obama - they are democrats and know full well which publications pander to the LEFT and LIBERALs.

Obama should have accepted the resignation rather "fire" him; this shows that the ONE is a ZERO and has nobody on his staff that has a clue about Commander-in-Chief duties or relations with the military. To refuse a resignation and then fire while the General was on the return trip is well... indicative of an Administration that cannot make a timely decision!

He knew.

I would have known, you would have known, millions say they would have known.

He’s extremely bright.

He knew.

He voted for Obama. That MAY mean he is a liberal and trusts liberals to treat him and the military right, or at least to behave with honor.

"He’s not anti-American and he is a patriot that has served our country well"

He voted for Zero and since Zero ran on an overtly anti American campaign the bad general is not a patriot. He is an anti American leftist demon like every other Zero voter.

BUT, he was serving our country long before the Marxist in chief was ever heard of.

In times past reporters would sit on stories that could damage the American war effort and the image of America.

There is no good reason for this reporter to publish overheard conversations between soldiers blowing off steam in a bar. This reporter was allowed to hang out with men who he isn't worthy to shine their shoes and he repays them by stabbing them in the back.
There was no good reason for this jerk to publish these private conversations unless he wanted to hurt the morale of American troops and influence the fight in Afghanistan

In case none of you have noticed, the casualty figures in Afghanistan have been steadily increasing, the strategy and ROE have been a disaster. Even the liberal press has noticed. SO you're a narcissistic, never wrong idiot who put the general in charge. What do you do?

1. Admit failure and replace the general? or

2. Have the general resign in disgrace? or

3. Get a friendly press member do a story on the general, have him speak out of line, cause an incident where everyone understands you "have to" relieve the general, replace him with a Bush-related general who will either change the ROE or take the fall when it all falls apart?

I choose door number ... 3!

Obviously you’ve never served. McChrystal’s comments provided aid and comfort to the enemy. Regardless of whether you agree or disagee with the actions of the president you don’t voice your opposition in Rolling Stone magazine! I enlisted under Reagan and retired under Bush II and from day one it was drilled into us—Country First! In 25 years I’ve yet to meet one Marine who agreed with Reagan’s decision to cut and run from Beirut after they killed 241 Marines in one day. Many vets believe, as I do that we are still paying for our inaction in Beirut today. For all of Reagan’s bluster and hype, when Beirut killed 241 US Marines we, under the command of Ronald Reagan, cut and ran.

This General was an Obama supporter, I guess he felt safe around the RS since they are devout leftist. He gave them carte blanche never realizing how much liberals hate the military, even left leaning Generals. Stalin had very little use for his Generals either, McCrystal should feel lucky this regime just sacked him.

I agree and disagree. Reagan was not my favorite President for exactly the reasons you gave. When the Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Soldiers were killed, I was a Marine Sgt stationed in El Toro. You may have forgotten, he did respond anemically, but a response none the less. A pilot was shot down over the Bekaa Valley and Jess Jackson got him back. Ring any bells. I wanted Reagan to nuke Syria and Iran! what I learned later was that we were still suffering from Carter malaise in the military. We lacked effective standoff weapons systems to retaliate in the Bekaa Valley, which was filled with SAMs and ZSU-23 sites.
Years later I heard Reagan had radio intercepts that proved the bomber received aid from Iran. If we knew who did it, we should have destroyed Iran's ports and oil refineries and military installations in retaliation.
McCrystal was not the problem, near as I can tell, his staff had diarhea of the mouth.

First let me say Thank You for serving our country. I mean that seriously and from my heart. Several in my family are vets and one gave his all.

No, I have never served in the military.

Now as to General McChrystal.

When a General who has served his country with honor all of his adult life and does something so out of character one has to wonder at his motive.

Many here on this forum have done so, including me.

McChrystal didn't write the ROE,but he had to live with those rules, he lost men because of those rules.

I think that bit of info is a fact. If not please correct me.

What we don't know is did he ask his CinC and immediate boss, General Petraeus to lift some of those rules and if so what answer did he receive. If his request was denied would he go to such lengths, giving up his career, defying all rules of the military to protect his soldiers?

If that was his purpose, it worked as General Petraeus has already stated he will lift some of the ROE. (not a quote)

I have not said what he did is OK, only what are his motives for his actions, actions that most here find unbelievable.

If nothing else Gen. Stanley Mc Crystal found out what liberalism-socialism is all about. As the old saying goes…Life is a learning experience and wise people NEVER stop learning, as smart as they think they are.

Always remember to be humble!

re: the “hip” Albore

I love the anecdote Courtney Love (otherwise worthless dreck of humanity) tells about meeting Albore at some Hollywood party in the late ‘90s, and Albore breathlessly tells her he’s such a “really big fan” so Courtney Love challenges him to “name a song” (of hers)..... of course he can’t and he’s exposed as a worthless poseur spouting any nonsense to try to ingratiate himself......
