Maybe because he stinks?There are a couple of huge flowers that stink of rotting flesh and consequently attract carrion flies (as pollinators): the titan arum ("corpse flower") and rafflesia.
Both are native to Southeast Asia.

No doubt, Obama personally fuming over this. The 'One' has invested a great deal in his 'Lord/messiah/Imam' personna. To be undone by 'humor' is bad enough; but this Lord of the Fly(ies) moment - and photo - and speculation per it's meaning - cannot bode well for Obama'. . .and/or those doing offering it/sigh.
