Violence erupted at a King of Prussia construction site Wednesday, and today, police are seeking the public's help to apprehend some bat-wielding assailants. --snip-- The victims said they were blocked by numerous union protesters from entering the construction site, and so they drove to the mall area to await police assistance.
A short time later, a black sedan pulled up and several men exited with baseball bats, ran up to the two trucks and repeatedly slammed the bats into the windows. As the workers exited the trucks, at least two were then physically assaulted with the baseball bats

I've had lots of both. Currently, have 3 500's and only 1 870 (and a couple of Win. 1200's which are a great in-between arm).
Are you going to shoot the hell out of it? Get an 870, you'll enjoy the quality difference. Defense/survival on a budget? The 500 will never let you down, and you can spend the $ you save on extra ammo.

I was going to look that up, too. I was visiting my folks in the ‘burbs west of Philly during college in the summer of ‘72 and remember the union violence well. Some things never change. Weren’t there lots of burnings of construction equipment the summer before, too, leading up to the riot?
The Mossberg has a tang safety which can be switched on or off without removing your hand from the firing position.
The Mossberg has a superior loading gate through which shells can be fed without the possibility of catching ones fingers or shells in that piece of steel inherent to the Remington.
This is especially important in the dark.
The Mossberg comes factory drilled and tapped for a scope or optical sights.
Now I'm a fan of the 870 for hunting purposes. But for social work, I feel the Mossberg is superior.

Pennsylvania is a stupid state as it only has one license plate per car, usually on the back. This makes it easy for perps to get away and speeding so that it is hard to read the back license plate.
Two plates would make it easier for eyewitnesses to have two chances to see the license numbers.
Remember, this is a state run by “Fast Eddy” Rendell. Tell me he isn’t labored up? Would love to know if he had mob connections when he ran Philly? A Scarfo-boy, perhaps?
