DOJ urges appeals court delay on oil spill ruling

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department on Friday urged a federal appeals court to delay a judge's ruling overturning a drilling moratorium in the Gulf.

In court papers, the Obama administration said the suspensions in deepwater drilling are crucially important to protect human health and the environment from another disaster.

At the same time, the federal government's lawyers argued that the moratorium targets only a small number of deepwater operations that present safety concerns, affecting less than 1 percent of the existing structures in the Gulf dedicated to oil exploration and production.

What does 1% mean in regard to employment and dollars lost.....We’re not talking about local mechanic shops....these are HUGE oil/gas ventures

The Justice Department said that the lower court judge, U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman, committed legal error and abused his discretion by blocking the Obama administration moratorium.

Seriously? But no legal error or abuse of discretion occurred when the Obama administration shredded the constitution and implemented LAW?

What a banana republic we have become. This administration's Hutzpah is beyond belief.

Oh. . .sure they are looking for the cause of this disaster. . .just not at the safety violations of BP nor the lack of oversite per Government aka 'human error'.

It one could contrive such; it cold almost app;ear that Obama gave BP enough 'rope' to hang themselves and hoped they would. We will never know if they had a little help; but bottom line; Obama, Inc. as guilty a Tony Hastings, IMHO.

This 'search for cause' is a politial ruse; America is on it's knees; Obama, Inc. needs us 'on our face'.

WRONG!

The absence of the Obama administration's foot dragging, delay tactics, inaction, interference, obfuscation and outright lying would have been crucially important to protect human health and the environment from this disaster.

All they were doing was racking up the claims to be paid by BP so they could run them into bankruptcy.

Oh. . .sure they are looking for the cause of this disaster. “

I have a theory:

There was a methane ‘blowout’ at the Horizon drilling rig. Not terribly unusual, but this one was alot larger than usual. Methane is often found in oil wells in ‘bubbles’. Call it a very big fart.....

This GAS blowout caused a fire. Gas catches fire MUCH more easily than heavy crude oil.

A number of employees on the rig were killed & injured, but a number of them escaped the fire.

Keep in mind that these rigs have been built to withstand Category 5 Hurricanes. They are built to FLOAT.

The USA COAST GUARD sped to the site & started pouring thousands of gallons of water onto the drilling rig.

Was this the correct method for fighting this fire out in the Gulf?

The weight of the water after 2 days of hosing it from the sea over the rig caused the rig to ‘SWAMP’ , tipping & tilting & eventually going underwater & THAT is what caused the 5000 ++ foot riser pipe to buckle-bend-break from the well head on the ocean floor.

That is when the oil started leaking-—not when the rig caught fire.

Were any of the EXPERT COMPANIES all over the world ever called for advice or services?

Were any of these companies even ALLOWED to offer their advice or services?

We already know that a number of countries all over the world offered help & were blatently turned down by the imposter in the Oval Office.

Soooo—if there was NO OIL LEAKING from the original incident, then did the USA COAST GUARD actually cause the oil spill?

Is there legal standing for BP to go after NObama & the Coast Guard?

The exact timeline needs to be tightened up & the sequences of events need to be clarified.

I am not convinced that BP is anywhere near the outlaw with this problem that they have been portrayed to be.

Any other information which could tighten up this timeline would be welcome.

This is BS. While the moratorium might not affect a huge number of structures the NTLs issued have effectively shut down all drilling in the Gulf. We will all pay heavily for this and we should not have to. Salizar has wrongly said that the BOP from the Horizon must be recovered to understand how to make operations in the Gulf safe...this is just plain wrong.

Most likely the BOP failed because:

1. Four 80 gallon subsea accumulator bottles are on the stack as a common source of supply.
2. There was a leak on the hydraulic system to the stack and it was difficult to maintain manifold and accumulator bottle pressure
3. When the crew FINALLY did attempt to close the stack the hydraulic system pressure was depleted
4. Power on the rig failed and the hydraulic system could not be charged again
5. The absence of a properly isolated and dedicated dead man shear hydraulic accumulator system prevented the dead man system from working when the hydraulic conduit finally severed as the rig went down.

The annular tears are a red herring. I have seen annulars seal when all the steel fingers were mostly exposed. Annular elements are big and have lots of rubber and they work for a long time even after they are torn.

The failed ROV panel was a blunder of design as was the failure to not have a dedicated dead man accumulator system.

The destruction of the offshore oil industry is being done with extreme prejudice and with malice of forethought. This crime by this bastard president and his gang of thugs, tree huggers and other know nothings is going to cost us all dearly. Maybe more dearly than money.

And yet, he still sits in the Oval Office planning more ways to destroy America and all we do is whine.

So what and when is the tipping point Charlie? Who goes first and who follows and how many?

I agree, we are whimpering into oblivion and otherwise would be quietly wiped out one at a time if there is no unity of purpose and action.

I think we missed our chance in the Summer and Fall of 2008 when open campaigning was going on. Now there is the fear of racial war and riots. Only the military is left to take control of the WH, Congress and SC, and all czars and keep the peace until new elections. If they do not, and martial law is declared suspending elections, I believe the resulting anger will cause massive white riots. Civil disobedience and assassinations will take place plunging this nation into a civil war from which we will not recover our free enterprise economic system and republic form of government. We will be overrun by China and the Soviets. I think Obama is still smoking crack, more self-destructive than ever and planning more destruction, then a move to the U.N. to oversee what is left of America under the authority of George Soros and world bankers. I hope the Dems will turn against Obama and force him to resign, but it is not likely.

My starting point*; but you really have this down and thoughtfully so. Whatever the answer here; and yours greatest 'ring of truth'; one goes 'begging' from all 'spin' thus far. It is more than disgusting to watch the focused hate and hype without balance per our Gov's/Obama,Inc. role here.

(*. . .think Mice were filled with noxious chemicals that would ignite oil to 'fire'; after thrown on floor of rig - which was covered by oil scum - and so immediate fire spreads. Think Rahm - and/or aid; in a small boat; unseen, undetected as it came close to rig that night . . .)

Oh, nevermind.

Your analysis is far better in it's critical thinking; and I will stick to yours and ditch mine/lol. Should never have read 'Dr. Mary' Monkey'. . .)lol/
