I'm thinking there will be 50% chance an attempt within the next few months. They won't call it secession, too many old wounds there. Whatever they call it will be some new focus group tested catch phrase. Perhaps something like Enhanced State Autonomy Bill or Constitutional Delineation of Powers Act. The Tell the Feds to Pound Sand Act of 2011 would be appropriate, but I don't think it will get past the marketing types.

My bet will be it will take place if the Obama declares amnesty or a gun grab by executive order. One or more states will simply not acknowledge what is a blatantly unconstitutional act and refused to allow the ATF or FBI enforce the executive order.

I agree. I doubt there will be a formal vote to secede as was done by the southern states in 1860/61. Instead there will be various acts passed to nullify federal authority within the state(s). And these may be targeted at specific acts such as Obamacare or another “stimulous” or an attempt to disarm citizens or to give blanket amnesty to illegal aliens.

How about just calling it the Reassertion of States Rights, or Reconfirmation of States Rights?
