Obama Knew of Blagojevich Plot, Aide Says
FOX News ^ | Published June 25, 2010

CHICAGO -- An ex-aide to former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich testified this week that President Obama knew Blagojevich wanted a plum job in the administration in exchange for appointing a politically palatable person to fill Obama's vacated Senate seat.

John Harris, Blagojevich's former chief of staff, testified in the ex-governor's corruption trial in federal District Court here this week that Obama was aware Blagojevich was working to leverage the Senate seat into a cabinet position for himself.

He also said Blagojevich believed that if he appointed to the Senate Obama's longtime friend Valerie Jarrett, Blagojevich would get a top job. Jarrett had been working on the Obama presidential campaign before accepting her current position as a senior White House advisor.

"The president understands that the governor would be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he's asked for," Harris told the court Wednesday.

The White House declined to comment Thursday on testimony regarding Obama and Jarrett.

Looks like a pattern here. Joe Sespak and the Congressman from Colorado were offered jobs to not run for office. I don’t know if there is enough evidence for prosecution but there is always public opinion about being a crook.

Well since the Obama administration wasn't stupid enough to give him a job, I'm not sure anyone in the administration broke the law. They can also fall back on saying that while they suspected that is what he wanted, they couldn't make such accusations about a state governor without unequivocal proof.

>Sounds like an impeachable offense to me!!!!<

of course it is, but not with the current congress.

Impeachment requires honest people to take in facts and make a decision based upon morals, ethics and truth.

‘Nuff said

Without sounding like an a$$ to you, they can make a case just as they do a dry conspiracy. It is still a crime and a darn serious one.

They arrest people all the time for “dry conspiracy” as a classic example, you and I make a deal to buy / sell a quantity of cocaine. We discuss it and make one overt act of any kind at all. Say .. I leave you a map marking of where we are to meet. Even though no drugs have changed hands, little more is needed for a federal conspiracy conviction.

Many things can make that type of case work, Like a tape recording - purchasing a rental as agreed upon to transport the drugs, buying containers that had been discussed etc.

it doesn’t take much when the two people are serious and you can tell that it is more than “just talk” all it generally takes is one “overt” act.

I think that they certainly already have that much since they have so many phone calls recorded that can be verified and corroborated with other calls and actions.

that being said, nothing at all will happen with this in regard to the chosen one, he is insulated well and no one will dare oppose him. Congress will certainly never impeach him (not with Reid and Pelosi at the helm).

Although I do find it quite telling that people like Rham are planning on bailing in the not too distant future. Like rats from a sinking ship.

Jarrett may be Obama’s “closet red” since she was “watching” admitted communist nut Van Jones for 8 years. In what capacity was she “watching” Van Jones, and for whom? How to you say Obama?

PS: Her father has some ties to the Communist Party and its fronts in Chicago.

Hiya, Manc. My bet is on Soros. Can’t you just see the wizened Nazi ‘helper’ rubbing his paws in glee seeing people panicking?

“Impeachment requires honest people to take in facts and make a decision based upon morals, ethics and truth.”

Of course, the 45 Dems and 10 Republicans in the Senate who voted not guilty on Clinton’s impeachment in 1999 didn’t meet this standard either.

You'd think this would be BIG news, but I didn't hear a peep about it last night, or this morning on Fox,

Fox ran it yesterday...with tapes and graphics.

Me too.

In other sickening Soros news, I really have to wonder about the delay in accepting Dutch spill relief. Get offshore banned and rigs are available to go to Petrobras? Oddly, just after the spill, Petrobras delayed the contract bidding process for rigs- maybe they were looking for a discount?

Now that the good judge has told the null set admin to get stuffed, Petrobras delayed a MASSIVE stock offering. Pushed it off until September.

Looking like a turtle sitting on a fence-post to me.

Yep, but that describes the average Obama supporter

And THAT, of course, describes the average "mainstream journalist."
