Al Gore: The hottest May ever shows need for Senate to pass climate bill By Ben Geman - 06/25/10 11:42 AM ET

Al Gore is trying to translate new federal data on global temperatures into political momentum for climate change legislation.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported last week that worldwide temperatures for May and the January-May period were the warmest on record.

“Every month we delay work, the planet continues to warm. The Senate needs to take action on the climate bill immediately,” Gore wrote on his website Thursday afternoon.

We had a graduation party here in the Boise area back in May, and it had to be moved indoors because of COLD, wet weather. The high for the day was 40 degrees, and it snowed in the foothills.

I believe it.

I had to replant my vegetable garden. Lost tomatoes, eggplants, and cukes due to frost. My garden just stated making some progress last week. Usually by this time of year I have some fresh veggies, but it’s probably 2 - 3 weeks behind now.

Funny how this snake oil salesman doesn’t talk about rough winters””

You know, I've always wondered that.

An engineer, or really anyone sensible, would think that if a system (in this case, a global climate) grows more unstable, then there'd be bigger swings in temperature in both directions. Think of balancing a baseball bat on one end....it swings in multiple directions, not just one.

However, a fluctuation that is a few degrees hotter gets all sorts of press, but one that is a few degrees colder (like we had in the SE this past winter), gets none at all.

Personally, I look at it and say "Hunh. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Who'd have thunk it?". But then again, I'm a skeptic that doesn't confuse "weather" with "climate".

It is hypocritical for someone who is obese to expound on our energy useage.

It’s so hot (how hot is it?) that Al has to wait until it cools down at 11 pm to order erotic massages!

“Every month we delay work, the planet continues to warm."

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that it starts to cool off again in about three months.

Based on my own conversations with folks here and in other parts of the world, and personal local (northern US Midwest) observation, this past Spring was as cold and wet as anyone can recall. May was like what April usually is and April was like a normal March. Anyone who still believes anything these “experts” say about the state of the climate are delusional.

We haven't heard from Al Gore for awhile.

Coming out of his cave to try to pretend everything's normal because of massage-gate?

Very possible.
