Throughout his political career, Obama has consistently declared his view that the Constitution's purposeful restraint of government power is obsolete. ...the White House, he and his faction have signaled their intent to circumvent, undermine or simply set aside the authority of the U.S. Constitution. Both here and in postings on my blog I have repeatedly had occasion to remark upon the design for despotism that has been evident in their actions.
Now "eight Republican senators … are warning that the Obama administration is drafting a plan to 'unilaterally' issue blanket amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants as it struggles to win support in Congress for an overhaul of immigration laws." This represents the decisive step beyond derelict law enforcement. Not content merely to ignore the laws the legislature has properly and constitutionally made, Obama signals the intention to undertake unilateral executive action that alters the clear terms and intention of the established laws, entirely without the constitutionally determined consent of the people. This will be a blatant and presumptuous usurpation of legislative power. This is not just dereliction, it is lawless tyranny. It is outright dictatorship.
Constitutionally exercised, the executive power represents the force of law. Once divorced, however, from constitutional provisions for ascertaining the consent of the people, it asserts instead the law of force, the unjust rule that might makes right. In effect, just laws fall silent, and all that speaks are the government's instruments of force and intimidation, imposing rules that have no more warrant of lawfulness than the command of a terrorist over those he holds, by threat of violence, hostage to his will. The forces under the authority of the presidency become in that case a weapon, loaded and cocked, held to the head of the American people.

I think that McChrystal was fired for insubordination, correct?
If I understand the situation correctly, then BO (as much as I hate to admit it) acted properly. He *is* the Commander in Chief, and his top generals can't just thumb their noses at him, particularly in a public forum. There's discipline and a hierarchy in the military for a reason.
I agree with McChrystal's opinions, but he should have kept them to himself. Or at least not aired them out in front of an RS reporter. (geez, am I actually taking BO's side on this? sigh. I hate it!)
I saw a thread that said, more or less, that the general was too smart to get caught with his hand in the cookie jar "inadvertently", and this was done to raise awareness of what's going on in Afghanistan. That's the most rational explanation that I've heard so far.
Unless this was a trumped up mess, and the good general was canned "To encourage the others". I don't think that BO is that good, or that smart, though.
That's my $0.02. For what it's worth.
I cannot stand the man. How could America be so naive and stupid?
Keyes. McCain. Or Romney.
Easy choice, as far as I was concerned. :-)
Answer(or at least a bit of the reason): “American Idol” and the like.
Any one who thinks Obama is any where near a dictator has never lived under a real one.
No. We will have the army. It is the legions of armed federal functionaries that will be our opposition. It won’t necessarily be easy to get the army in play. But we must always remember that the enemy’s strength is drawn from the worst and the dimmest while ours is from the best and the brightest.
For life ...
He is not nuts. He is extraordinarily committed. I have a great deal of respect for him. I wish to heck he could have gotten a chance in the Senate. He would have shaken that “august” body to its foundations. I’ll grant you eccentric.
Brilliant people are rarely “typical”. Alan Keyes is brilliant.
And “typical” people hate him for it. Even here.
Exactly. He wants the Peacock throne.
We don’t intend to find out.
What good can an Army do against a usurper?
I think the US Army will not go along with Obama if he keeps this up. The Army is us. Obama is not.
That would be bad - another martyr like the Kennedys.
No he must be disgraced, removed from office and spend the rest of his life at Ft. Leavenworth for Federal Fraud over his citizenship.
I'll second that motion and add this from Alan Keyes before the election.
Obama is a radical communist and I think it is becoming clear. He is going to destroy this country and we are either going to stop him or the United States of America is going to cease to exist.
Keyes rightfully called Obama a Marxist six years ago in the Senate race and was pilloried for it. By Republicans.
Why wouldn’t he? He is well aware by now that it’s going to be an easy ride with little resistance, if any. Welcome to Cuba.
We’ve got a bunch of survivalists here in MI who ran around in the woods, shot trees and stocked food.
They are sitting in Jail and no one will let them out.
Americans wont put up with this again.
_______________
Sure they won’t. ...... come on, yes they will. They will submit willingly just like they did for all the other liberties that have been taken away. What time is American Idol on? The Bachelor? Dancing with the Stars? That’s what really matters.
