RUSH Limbaugh is singing the praises of Governor Christies budget. National pundits talk of spending cuts. Some enthusiasts have gone as far as starting a Christie for President chant.
So many words. But as the big government spin machine rolls on, what is really happening?
Sweep away the bluster and the attitude, and behind it all is the largest property tax hike New Jersey has ever seen.
As was said of Bill Clintons budget in 1996 The era of big government is over and all the programs are in place. Underneath the hype that cocoons Christies budget is the fact that it grows state government by more than 6 percent more than double the proposed 2.5 percent cap on local governments.

Could you explain why you think he is being unfair? Is anything he said in the article misleading or inaccurate?
ML/NJ
If this is true, how is Lonegan being unfair exactly?
As Reagan said, you have to slow the sled down before you can reverse it. What Christie isn’t doing is borrowing money through bond issues. I had heard that the budget actually went down 9% year over year. Perhaps the Daily Christie will offer a rebuttal.
The Chinese had to go through Mao, the Russians through Stalin, the Germans through Hitler.
Physicial experince is the educator of the masses. The masses have neither the education, history nor intellectual knowledge to know. The self serving elites are driving the bus, and bus driving is very very good.
The lesson is coming.
I was for Lonegan in early primaries, but he is still running 2009 primaries. Somebody should remind him that primaries are over. Christie is not perfect and he has no dictatorial powers. Dems have clear majority in both houses.
Still, at the moment, Christie is the shining example of what conservative ideology means in practise. Leaders like him are needed to show the americans what conservatives would do in Washington. Tough talk is also needed to convince americans that spending cuts are necessary and education cuts are not the end of the world.
We don’t know if he succeeds or not, but he is the first to tackle the issue, confronting unions and pushing for spending cuts. Christie’s poll numbers are lower than Obama’s and if conservatives like Lonegan join dems in attacking him, Christie is in danger of losing everything. In the end, he would just have to do “Arnolds” and embrace unions.
So, go to hell Lonegan.
I’m not sure what to make of this.
One politician’s viewpoint of his competition, whom he lost an election to. I’m always scepticle when stuff like this gets to print, and also, Rush usually does his homework.
I voted for Lonegan in earlier elections, but I hope he’s wrong this time. If he’s not, then we’ve been decieved yet again.
Sure.
Christie is prohibited from layoffs until next year as you know.
Cutting aid to schools/towns isn’t a “tax increase”. Many towns didn’t raise taxes or had their budgets rejected.
The 2.5 cap on property taxes he is pushing will help stop the towns from raising taxes to make up the shortfall from Trenton. (if it passes)
Christie is working against the dems and the rinos to get anything done.
Christie is promising to give towns the tools they need to cut and reform pensions and benefits.
But like I said he’s only being a little unfair.
Cap and tax, windmills, entitlements, more spending and fees, nothing at all about illegals,Obamacare etc.
are all signs that he’s all talk afterall.
I hope I’m wrong.
Lonegan buying air time to blast Christie sounds like sour grapes. He knows NJ is dominated by dems in the state house. Why not spend that money to help elect people more willing to back Christie and focus the rhetoric on the dems and their cronies.
Out of curiosity, how is Christie prohibited fro lay offs or for that matter from firing people?
fro = from
Some deal Corzine made with the unions before he was ousted. Next year Christie can start the layoffs.
Maybe he’s just trying to keep the heat on. Maybe he reads too many Mulslime articles.
We’ll see.
Lonegan sends me emails every single day bashing Christie. He is so bitter. We all know Lonegan desperately wants to be governor, but he attacks Christie more frequently than the NJNEA does!
Wow I didn’t know he was that bitter!
Still I’d like to see a response to this from someone in Christies circle.
ping
One thing to remember. Lonegan ran as the conservative. We also were “told” he couldn’t win in NJ.
Hey Al...thanks for the ping...I voted for Lonegan....and he is right on about CC....at best he is a RINO.....Rush and Hannity are enammored with his style...but his appointments are left wing libs...but we are all so starved for a straight talking politician that most national conservatives are happy to pretend CC is one of us...the best I can say about him is he picks fights with the right interest groups and he is raising taxes SLOWER than a dem would do...best we can hope for in blue state jersey, I suppose...have a great rest of your weekend, Pal.
