Police shoot, kill grandmother's dog after raiding wrong house (13 year-old pug named "Wrinkles")
Republican American ^

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating after an officer shot and killed a dog that allegedly attacked him while serving a search warrant at a Northwest Washington home Tuesday night.

Marietta Robinson, who lives at the address, said police were unjustified in killing the dog, which she put in the bathroom before police entered the home. Police were searching for her grandson, who the woman said hasn’t lived there in so long, not even her 13-year-old dog knew what her grandson looked like.

An officer entered the bathroom over the 62-year-old woman’s protests and shot the dog, named Wrinkles. As many as eight shots may have been fired, Robinson said.

Thanks for that link. It still doesn’t make it right but I can at least begin to picture in my head a big dog and how it happened instead of a tiny little Pug.

I’m kind of interested in how a tiny little pug could have mated to get a 100 lb anything though, not that I’m into watching that kind of thing mind you but it must have been funny as hell.

Just because 8 shots were fired doesn't mean they shot the Pug 8 times. Maybe the bathtub moved and needed shooting.

I was thinking that too. Furthermore, unless they are firing .177 pellets out of those firearms, no projectile will be found in a pug's body. So not only is her dog ruthlessly slaughtered before her, the bathroom is also shot-up. Every time she uses that room, she will sit down and remember this day, as she sees the holes in the floor, the wall, the ceiling, the bathtub. She gets to re-live each and every shot of her animal companion.

At least they didn't taze her to "calm" her from the hysteria.

I wonder how many rounds left the bathroom and entered into someone else's property. Bathrooms aren't constructed in the same way as your local indoor shooting range.

We are obviously living in a different country than what I grew up in.

Absolutely. Little respect for citizens on the part of government employees in general. That's due in large part to dumbed down education.

And this is same DCPD that hasn't yet found Chandra Levy's killer(s).

What is there to discuss. We are obviously living in a different country than what I grew up in. There is NO LEGAL EXCUSE for the police to treat people (even druggies) in this manner

This is the same government that is handing out awards to our troops to show restraint against shooting terrorists. We can only use FMJ bullets against our nation's enemies because hollow points are too lethal. The ROE in AF says that if they see Osama bin Laden in the company of women or children, that by no means can we go after them.

Here in this country, women, children, the infirm, lame, pets of any size, age or physical condition are subject to the most lethal rounds used in the most indiscriminate manner based on a twitch feeling.

So teenagers and young adults overseas are expected to have the judgement not to shoot active terrorists when it is possible that the blood spray might land on the kid handing wires to his bomb making dad, but "highly trained" and well compensated adults in the states can gun down citizens, destroy property and ruin innocent lives, and occasionaly plant evidence under the flimsiest of excuses usually no more complicated than "well, my finger was on the trigger anyways.."

I personally think drugs should be legalized, and we should use our police force to pursue real criminals (those who hurt other people). What someone does in their home should be their own business.

I agree, except that what people do in their own home should not include assaulting other adults or harming children. (I realize that "harm" can be too elastic a term here)

That is because Sarah Palin thinks clearly.

Anyone with half a brain could have foreseen the consequences on a "War on Drugs" especially after our experience with a "War of Alcohol."

The most unfortunate part is the schism it created in the population, that and narco-terrorist states like Afghanistan and Mexico.

The drug problem is much better controlled by priests and doctors than police.

Eight bullets to kill a decrepit on-death’s-door 13 year old pug?

Big brave socialist stormtroopers.

So very, very brave of them.

What the hell is this wrong address sh!t all so often? Even my dyslexic mailman gets my mail to me 9 times out of ten.

I don’t expect perfection in any human activity, but going into the wrong house with guns blazing should not happen more than once in my lifetime.

Oh, and I wonder how many children were in the near vicinity of this raid. A stray bullet could have had some more tragic results.

The DC cops are tough on 13 YO dogs named “Wrinkles” and citizens who have temerity to own guns to defend themselves and their families in their homes, but soft on drug dealers, friends of politicians, murderers and car thieves.

This is not exactly germane to the story but I wouldn’t call the police under any circumstances. I don’t want them around my place. They’re more the problem than the solution.

I too have an old dog and if one of those retards were to shoot it, well, I just don’t know what I would do. At the least I would try to deck the bastard.

unfortunately, Ive concluded that unwritten SOP is to have a desifgnated shooter of dogs for ‘gettin yer bones’ rite of passage...which usually comes with the standard ‘paid administrative leave’ til the investigation is done, ie 2 week vacation...

Back in the 60s in then small, suburban, Fairfax City, VA, when we'd go on vacation my Dad would call the police and ask them to keep an eye on the house. Can you even IMAGINE doing such a thing today???????

Ok, I've read several accounts now where the dog was referred to as a 100lb pit bull mix.

I have seen a 60 lb Pit Bull during a "rage", and man was that think vicious, the dog took a severe beating and acted like nothing was happening to it. I can imagine that a 100lb Pit mix would be nearly unstoppable. So knowing that, I can see why they shot it 8 times.

The whole "pug" thing sounds like someone wrote the story meaning to further impugn the police officers. I'd simply like the truth and the facts that would then allow me to judge.

In fact, there were many more references to it being a Pit mix, than there were for it being a pug, when I searched for the story via Google. I wonder if there was one source that got it wrong.

My guess is that this pit mix might have actually been a Johnson type American Bulldog. Wrinkly "bull" type dog, about 100 lbs for a large specimen. Very strong and very capable..

Sorry Chet, but I dont think this is a pug. It is a blurry puppy picture of "Wrinkles". Its hard to tell, but it looks like a young Boxer, or another of the "Molosser" breeds, which includes the "bully" type dogs.

Considering the granny they tazed and asphyxiated you may be better off if they shot you and tazed your dogs as the pain would be over quicker.

PS — I don’t mean to be insulting or heartless, I’m just saying that things are getting pretty dang ridiculous.

>I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.

Well... if you consider the entire world and limit the attacks with the qualifier “by American Law Enforcement” it is!
{That’s the reason you need to be able to see how they’re collecting their data and the metrics they’re using to measure it.}
