Police shoot, kill grandmother's dog after raiding wrong house (13 year-old pug named "Wrinkles")

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating after an officer shot and killed a dog that allegedly attacked him while serving a search warrant at a Northwest Washington home Tuesday night.

Marietta Robinson, who lives at the address, said police were unjustified in killing the dog, which she put in the bathroom before police entered the home. Police were searching for her grandson, who the woman said hasn’t lived there in so long, not even her 13-year-old dog knew what her grandson looked like.

An officer entered the bathroom over the 62-year-old woman’s protests and shot the dog, named Wrinkles. As many as eight shots may have been fired, Robinson said.

>This is the same government that is handing out awards to our troops to show restraint against shooting terrorists. We can only use FMJ bullets against our nation’s enemies because hollow points are too lethal. The ROE in AF says that if they see Osama bin Laden in the company of women or children, that by no means can we go after them.

Some soldier’s gotta be thinking something like this:
“If I see him, I’m going to ignore that, kill him, collect the reward money, and retire outside of the US.”

There is a world of difference between a pug and a pitbull!

Yes, there is, and the version of the story posted here is, I believe, totally bogus. Search on Google for "Marietta Robinson" and "pug", and you will see references only here on FR and one other "blog" about it being a pug. Do the same search except with "pit bull", and you get three pages worth of links. I also posted a picture from the video where they show a picture of the dog. If the dog was 100 lbs, then the picture had to be from when the dog was a puppy. In that case, you cant tell what breed it is.

For those reasons, I am calling this a BOGUS STORY. Not to say that the cops were not wrong, but because it had a glaring factual mistake which significantly changes the perception of the police officers judgement, which is, after all, what we are judging here.

>What the hell is this wrong address sh!t all so often?

Maybe they’re not wrong addresses, but “wrong addresses.”
When the Nazis did it it was called “horrible.”
When the Mafia did stuff like this it was called a “corrupt organization.”
When the Radical Islamist organizations did it they were called “terrorist organizations.”

But when American ‘Law Enforcement’ does it, it is called “the wrong address.”

That sure looks like a pug in the video @ #2. I’m surprised you found a story that isn’t about an American Bull Terrier.

I’m kind of interested in how a tiny little pug could have mated to get a 100 lb anything though, not that I’m into watching that kind of thing mind you but it must have been funny as hell

There is no mention in any other article about the dog being a Pug mix, only that it was a pit bull mix. The "Pug" angle looks to be something of a FreeRepublic "exclusive"...

And yet you’re not disputing the dog was voluntarily put in the bathroom by the old woman?

Yes, I did. Did you see where the dog was said to be 100 lbs? The picture in the video must have been of the dog as a puppy. Besides, that picture still doesn't look like a pug. Pugs are far uglier :)

Not disputing that or any other facts of the case.

Shooting the family pets is an SOP terrorist tactic for the cops. Shows the riff-raff who’s boss.

Well they’ll taze you if you’re bedridden and on oxygen if you take an aggressive posture (while bedridden) and are 86. Otherwise they’ll just break in and shoot your dog.

I’m afraid you are right. I guess just keep shooting until someone ID’s themself. If it had been my dog, that jerk may be lying right next to him. Its coming where you are going to have to protect yourself and not rely on the so called trusted ones...........

Back in the 60s in then small, suburban, Fairfax City, VA, when we'd go on vacation my Dad would call the police and ask them to

keep an eye on the house. Can you even IMAGINE doing such a thing today???????

You can still do that in some small towns. Where I live, the police chief is focused on public safety, and not raising revenue.  His focus drives the officers. When a new guy comes in, if he doesn't fit in with the more laid-back attitude, he doesn't last long. There are plenty of other cities in the area that think of their officers primarily as tax collectors (and the resulting us vs. them mentality that brings with it), that they can go to.

They are willing to run what they call a 'close watch' on your house if you're going to be out for an extended time, which is pretty cool.

Unfortunately, that type of peace officer is an endangered species. They are being replaced with 'law enforcement officers', much to the detriment of our freedom and safety.

The cop knew the dog was in the bathroom with the door closed. He went in there for one purpose - to kill the dog. He is a low life piece of slime that needs to spend the rest of his pathetic life in prison, in solitary confinement. A firing squad would be even better.

It might have been dumb of the cop to go in there, but I think he went in the bathroom to look for the person whom they were seeking. Doesn't it make sense that if someone were hiding in the apartment, that he/she just might be in the bathroom with the dog?

Think before you post.

From the article: "After the third shot, she says Wrinkles jumped up and bit one of the officers."

That's an interesting statement to say the least.
